I'm feeling a bit time pinched. I'd like to speed drying of my 1/2 & 1/2 fondant/gumpaste figures by baking them at a low temp like polymer clay figures. Is this a sure way to melt & ruin my figures?

Put them in the oven with only the light on. Putting them in the oven with the heat on low may destroy them. You can also put them in front of a fan.

Baking them would probably melt the figures, but you can place them in your oven and just turn the oven light on (but leave the oven off). The light will help them dry a bit faster

I once left some fondant decorations in on the oven with the light on overnight. They dried pretty well. However... I left them there to use later (practice cake, thank God) and forgot about them. For lunch, I wanted to bake something, so I went ahead and preheated the oven. All of a sudden I see a lot of smoke coming out and remember: the fondant decorations!!! They puffed up and looked pretty toasted, and were very brittle. Lost their color, too.

So, no baking. The light on the oven works great but don't forget to take them out before using the oven again.
