Hi! I'm doing some cookies soon for a wedding reception of a stick figure bride and groom on a motorcycle. The groom is bald with a big white beard, and the bride would like to have his beard on the groom stick figure.
I'm doing some samples on extra cookies I have to see which works best, but I'm still not sure. I tried the sparkle gel (it says it's white, but it seems more clear) in the tube with some opal sanding sugar and the gel with the teeny tiny white nonpariels. The flood icing is white, the stick figures are drawn in black with edible marker. I'm not sure it's showing up as much as I'd like it to, and you can see through it to the drawing underneath it.
Have any of you ever done something similar? What worked for you? Should I use white royal icing instead of the gel?
Thanks! Maria
I use glaze to stick on sugars and nonpareils on -- it works great. You can either brush the glaze on, or apply it with a tip if you want a finer outline or more control. #1 works good for that.
Is his beard totally white? If it's actually a little more gray, the "silver" sanding sugar may work well.
thanks! I ended up using a bit of royal icing with opal sanding sugar on top. The bride loved it!
