I did a cake for a lady who's grandson is turning two. (It's neat because I did his baby shower cake and 1st birthday cake, too.) It was a 2-tier cake in buttercream with fondant accents.
When she picked it up she told me her DD would be thrilled that I covered it in fondant because she really wanted that nice smooth look. It was BUTTERCREAM with fondant accents.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Sugarshack for your amazing videos that have significantly improved the look of my cakes. I still have a long way to go, but - thanks to you - I'm getting a little closer to a nice-looking cake!
Virtual hugs galore (and a happy dance that is MUCh better off staying virtual ).
Stacy, I was just watching Sharon's bc dvd. I love it. I kept pausing and repeating and dribing DH crazy. LOL

Congratulations, Stacy. Be proud of yourself!
I did a practice cake for St. Patty's day. (I wanted to try green velvet and I used crusting cream cheese which wasn't a terrific choice for practice.) I put my laptop on the raised section of my kitchen counter and worked right along with her! I think I need to make a checklist or something, though before I wear it out!
I got her buttercream, fondant, and stacking DVD's as an early B-day present the first of September last year. We got caught in the Ga flooding the 29th of that month and lost pretty much everything. I was ecstatic when hubby - after careful cleaning - was able to salvage all the DVDs except one of the bonus ones. The labels are toast and the cases are gone, but the DVDs themselves still work. I'm finally settling in enough to think about cake again and start using them.
Like I said, still a long way to go, but...getting better! May have to request her other two videos for Mother's Day - I do have twins afterall!
sugarshack is the best for videos and ordering item.. when i order i get it fast thank you very much i could count on you....i have her videos the BEST ....they help alot.
I just purchased her buttercream and her topsy turvy DVDs. So far, I've only watched one and haven't had a chance to put anything into practice. I lent the topsy turvy DVD to a friend and her facebook status said something like, "I cake home to cake toys! I'm watching a DVD right now. It's like watching Bob Ross, but with cake!" LOL I thought that was one of the best endorsments I've ever read.
When I first started watching the buttercream one, I thought, "Oh, no! I already know all this." but I kept watching and lo and behold- there are quite a few things I didn't know and now I'm anxious to try.
Definitely worth the money- and I'm a tightwad!
Ditto. My buttercream has come a long way because of that DVD. I'm a cheapie so I put off buying it for so long because I thought I already knew about all the techniques. Something about actually SEEING flawless buttercream in action is so helpful.
Glad they are helping you all! nanikins, please email me so I can send you knew cases and covers....
