I have someone who would like a cake similar to the one I've made below, for Feb. 2011 for her daughter's 15th bday party. I can't sell across state lines and wouldn't try to ship it anyhow........but instead of just telling her NO WAY, CAN'T DO IT! I'd like to be able to give her a name and number of a baker than CAN do it.

so any takers in the Houston area?

they want a pillow cake with a tiara......not sure if they meant this exact cake of mine (since I've done about 12 pillows with tiaras lol)

I'll take it if your customer is not wanting a 20 dollar cake. I live in Houston and have the skill to make this or any other pillow cake. But for some reason here in Houston people want cheap, real cheap. So just a heads up.

I just had someone call me for a Quinceanera. She wanted 6 tiers ocean theme to feed about 200 people when I told her 300 dollars she said thank you I'll call you back and I'm still waiting.

jobueno, you're freaking crazy to quote $300 for a 200-serving multi-tiered cake. I hope you are a legal, licensed business and aren't undercutting the local bakeries in your area by offering ridiculously cheap prices. Even Wal-Mart wouldn't sell cake that cheap.

Tina, so let me just ask you a stupid ? do you ask your customers if they're consuming the cake in OH? I'm just wondering if you'd get in trouble if someone decides to bring your cake to NY and have the party here. I said stupid question. lol

no, if they pick it up it's not my problem......there is no way to regulate that........but I'm not allowed to "deliver" or "ship" food products across state lines for "profit".


I have mailed cakes to past customers as freebies and for sampling purposes though.....but I can't charge for them! (and I'm not makin' a pillow cake for NO charge)

Ahh ok, I get it now. Thanks for clarifying. It just didn't seem fair to you if people wanted to take it to another state.

So why didn't you tell the customer that you could fill the order if they picked it up? Or maybe they just can't arrange a pickup?

I'm guessing 'cause it's pretty far from TX to OH back to TX.

Oh sorry LOL I was not paying attention to where she is, I assumed since the reason was "can't sell across state lines" that it was doable if not for the law. haha.
