Please help

I've been paying my local food market store $10.00 per sheet for edible images. I love working with edible images and a lot of my customers want them. I have been thinking of getting a printer and things at home and doing my own edible images.

I'm asking for advise on where to look and if anyone has this at home what do you recommend? The ones who have this about what is the normal cost per sheet to make your own and where do I get supplies?

Hi have a canon ip3500 and I love it!!! I bought it for $25.00 at ebay brand new. And I buy the paper and the cartridge at kopykake.com

The cost for printing (mistakes included) is about $2.00. If you refill it goes down to about $1.25. I recommend to prospective purchasers of systems that they want to be printing about once per week to make it worthwhile. If you are not printing that much you can consider printing once a week on paper or offer your imaging services to another baker who does not have a printer.

To answer your questions. The Canon ip3600 or MP560 are great printers for edible printing. If and only if you plan to print the 10x16" or the new larger sized 11.5x16" thank you can jump in to the Epson Workforce 1100. This is the only Epson I would recommend however. The two Canon's I recommend print everything up to 8.5x13.75"

I have a canon mp 640 i just got and i bought my frosting sheets and ink from kopykake.com...I downloaded the software the free one they give, but I wanted to buy a soft ware.

I print out of word, excel and paint too. You don't need a graphics package to be able to print.

Yeah, you don't need any particular software. If you can see it on your monitor you can print it.

ooooh i see..lol... sorry the printing is new to me i normally buy them but i am getting a lot of orders for the images lately. thanks for the help ladies!!.... oh i can use the kopykake software for the cup cakes and the business size frosting sheets if i ever to need to?,and any other program to print with?.

Everyone is correct, you do not need a specific graphics program. I actually recommend someone using something they already know and if they dont know of one, then I tell them ask their kids!!! But I do find scrapbooking programs are awesome as they use a lot of the same types of themes we use in decorating. The only exception is for positioning of multimple up like business cards, 3", 2" 2.5" etc... Then you need to have software that can place it easily for you. KK has their own software as do we. Our is strictly for placement only. Now you can use Word and other document type programs, but dont let the word GRAPHICS scare you away. Most people are already using them now for printing out "regular" pictures and most people have them on their computers already.

Thank you for all the info. It has helped. I'm looking into the Canon printers. If I can get it all set up it would save me so much money and my customers who ask for edible images may not change thier minds as much. Most do not like paying $10 a picture.
