I bet this would work great for making tassels on a graduation cap. I might try this this week. I am working on a graduation cake

I am curious how it turned out?!?  I am wanting to do the same thing.  Eiffel tower for my daughters bday cake.  Please share!

When is your eiffel tower cake due.  I have one due on the 12th of this month.  With the heat I am scared to make it with chocolate (which is what was used in the pic the customer gave me)  I called sugar veil and while they told me it could be done they didn't seem to convince me.

My cake is going to be 4 tiers tall not to mention the space between the tiers that need the sugar work.  Yikes.

I am anxious to see work of others and try this method.

Thanks all for posting, now to find Bakers Kitchen, lol

Yeah.. I had some gum paste that I made from scratch.  I added gelatin and hot water and whipped it till it was frothy like meringue.  It turned out stiff and I had to keep changing the tips because it would harden so fast it dried in the tip.

But I liked how it stayed this am after it dried thru.  Not flexible which means I need to add another ingredient to make it bendable.  It definitely not as fragile as ri.

There were some posters that had tried the original recipe with Wilton Gum Tex and were going to tell us if it actually worked on day two and never came back to respond. The added link that was supposed to explain this was someone who only made gumpaste and did not add it to the RI so it wasn't flexible.

Has anyone tried and can report on day two of the results with the Wilton Gum Tex?

I just got my shipment of tbk gumpaste powder, going to try it tonight and see how it holds up.  I have an eiffel tower cake this weekend.

Yes I know the Bakers brand works, was still wondering about the Wilton as a substitute. I have easy access to the wilton brand. Don't want

to try myself as it was $5 for the container, was hoping someone who already tried it might let me know.

Although some posters said they had trouble with the Bakers brand so if it does work for you they might want to know what you specifically did Auntginn.

Some said it never worked it was gritty..I suspect not beating it enough.

Using a clay or fondant extruder with the die that has many small holes, like a pastry bag grass tip, makes beautiful tassels. Super easy.  If you don't own a fondant or clay gun/extruder, there are instructions on the internet for making one for less than $5 using PVC parts readily avaliable at any hardware store.  Check Hadar Jacobs Blog on the web....I have pictures of a graduation cake with fondany tassel in my profile...
