I am making a bridal cake for my friend in two weeks. I am doing the 1234 white cake recipe and would like some input on what flavor to use. She isn't picky but I find it hard to pair flavors with white cake as I love chocolate cake with ganace or chocolate mousse. However I am making a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse already. The white cake is the 2nd one. If you have the recipe too that would be great. I am also using basic buttercream on both cakes as the frosting due to having to add some fondant accents.
TIA
Pretty much ANY flavor goes with white cake. I can't think of one that WOULDN'T go with white.
maybe I need a fillings thread so I can see what is best to make.. Anyone have any ideas if one was started?
Check out the gourmet flavours forums. There are TONS of ideas. Raspberry is always great.
I just made a white cake today and put caramel and apple (apple pie filling chopped up) and it was a huge hit. I iced the bottom of the cake with the caramel filling so the apple wouldn't run through into the layer, I also then put caremal one the inside of the top layer for the same reason so the apple was sandwiched between two layers of caremal.
Everyone commented on how good it was and I got one cake order on the spot because of it!

My favorite is our pina colada cake. Pineapple filling, coconut buttercream
are these recipes on cakecentral?
also I am looking for a strawberry filling which would you or anyone recommend.
I love white cake with raspberry, but Indy's right... white cake is like a neutral color... it goes with anything. You pretty much can't miss.
I just did a cake testing for my cousin who is getting married and I made her several fillings - one was a raspberry filling and the other was a coconut cream mousse filling. Out of curiosity she mixed the 2 together and loved it!
