Just wanted to see if there was still a theme for the month for cookies? I have not been able to bake for a while and am starting to work on new projects. I liked doing this before and was interested to see if it was still being done.

The "Creative Cookie of the Month" club goes back quite a ways, actually. I know that bonniebakes used to be the administrator for the thread. The rules were simple: A topic was chosen, and everyone was encouraged to post their cookies in that forum thread that conform to that topic. The cookies had to be new designs not previously posted, and it was asked that you not post the cookies to the CC gallery until after that month. The first person to post their cookies usually got to pick the next month's theme.
It was a fun thread! The problem is that while everyone agreed it was a lot of fun, and everyone loved seeing the photos, fewer and fewer people would post. Life gets busy....
So to start a new Cookie of the Month Club, all you need is an administrator and a theme! There are a lot of new decorators on the site would probably enjoy seeing this oldie but goodie!

I think I'd enjoy trying it, but I'd have to find something to do with those cookies every month -- otherwise, my DH and I would have to eat them all ourselves.

OK, then let's get it going again!
For the first month, lets see if we can come up with a theme... from then on, the first person who posts a picture for the month gets to choose the theme for the next month (I'll still start the threads each month, the theme "chooser" will just rotate).
What are your ideas for an April theme?

Sometimes when I want to test out a new design/or just play around I'll make up only 2 or 3 cookies in a particular design and then I bag them up and put a label and everything on them and I literally hang them on the wall in my "cake supplies room" (Making sure to keep them out of direct sunlight) I've still got one of the dracula cookies from the cookie cutter tutorial lol and it still looks the same.
Anyhow, the reason I do this is that I can show the ACTUAL cookie to customers as an example, sometimes it's the deciding factor in them placing an order. It also let's me showcase cookies that people might not ordinarily think to order on there own!
So THATS what you can do with the cookies....nobody said you had to make 4 dozen lol......just make a couple and hang on to them.......that way nobody gets hurt(fat) lol.

great idea, Khalstead - I really like that!
I usually didn't do a whole batch for the monthly theme, sometimes I save a little bit of dough that's extra when I make dough and freeze it. Then when I want to try out a new design, I can use that dough.
But if I have enough dough... and I don't care if the cookies are all a particular theme, I do a whole bunch and give them to neighbors, post office, fire station or police department near me.
