I finished a three tier wedding cake earlier that's been picked up. The groom loved it. Working on a five tier right now and still have a groom's cake to go.

I'm here - just got in from a Relay For Life fundraiser and am starting the final icing on a 3 tier wedding cake for tomorrow. Then I just have a 1/4 sheetcake to decorate for Sunday.

The best storage I have are the rubbermaid 3-drawer sets for cookie cutters; I have a 3 drawer cabinet that has wicker baskets for the drawers a little taller than a night stand that I keep my gumpaste and fondant toys in; and then in the closet I have a 9 compartment shelf that keeps my fondant buckets, styrofoam. cake circles, sugar crystals, flavorings, etc.

i was looking for small stacking drawers to hold my icing colors (so i could pull out the drawer and see the colors on top) but i just got a airbrush, so now i'll need somewhere to put those colors too icon_redface.gif i need a second house just to store my cake stuff, and the sad part is this is just a hobby (well for now anyway icon_lol.gif )

I so want to sleep - been a week without enough of it for some reason! I only have one cake, but it was last minute and I couldn't get my supplies until last night, and was busy most of today. A friend wants a cake to look like a basketball court, but I didn't really have anything to make the goals and stuff, but I made do. They are drying, but I have had issues with gumpaste taking days to dry instead of drying quickly - even with extra tylose!!!!!!!! It gets me so frustrated icon_sad.gif I hope they hold up - they don't look perfect, but I know they will be happy enough with them.

Cake is torted/filled, covered in BC and chilling before putting on fondant. Then I still have to paint it, cut the little emblems to go on the court, and figure out a way to put the stupid basket on the goal - lol. Thought about sticking a toothpick through the goal so the basket could rest on it - what do ya think?

I had shoulder surgery on Monday, but I was needing to decorate! My mom came over, so between the two of us, we had 3 good arms to use. We made a chocolate covered cherry cake with yellow quilted fondant, and just applied some simple fondant flowers and a fondant bow...it was simple, but just what I needed until I can get back into it full scale!

last week i bought 2 big rubbermaid tubs to store bits and pieces ive seemed to have collected - pans, choc melt pot thingy, stuff like that.

i suspect i will be fighting with hubby for space in the rear hobby room - he currently uses it for his rebreather and considering a rebreather not set up correctly can kill him i wont fight too hard for it

oh, i also cleaned out the garage today so ebaying his stuff as i hate hording icon_smile.gif

I was suppose to be out of town this weekend so I have NO cakes! My dog was hit by a car yesterday (long story) and had to have $5,000 surgery to repair his shattered pelvic bone. Yes, I know that is crazy, and my husband and I are both teachers, so we definitely don't have the money. But I would rather live without the money than my baby, so I'm paying it! icon_cry.gif

Anyway, back to cake. We are celebrating my cousin's 24th birthday tomorrow night and I was thinking about making something crazy, over the top, fun, but I don't know what??? I had an idea, but can't find the pic of the cake I was looking to make. I had it saved but lost it when the computer crashed. Any suggestions???

Ugh . . . tonight will make me remember to check my pearl inventory before the cake is due. I'm having to make these things. Normally I have at least 1/2 a kilo on hand.

I was actually a "good mom" today for once and my almost five year old son and I decorated his tractor cake for his birthday (we are going to a farm tomorrow for it)...just a wilton tractor pan but easy for him to decorate with me....and we also made tractor shaped lollipops.

Had no clients to do cakes for this weekend, just a consult this afternoon and have a consult Sunday afternoon.

Next week though gets busy and the following week will be insane.

I did make some gumpaste petals tonight for a large sunflower cake for next weekend.

Had 3 cakes to do today. Penguins, Monkey's and Tennis. All had a lot of sculpting. Tomorrow I go pick up my new double oven, HOORAY! And then go out to dinner for my anniversary. I only have 1 cake next weekend because I have to prep for the crazy busy weekend following.

Never a dull moment in Cake Land!

Ugh.

Well busy is good eh? thumbs_up.gif

Tuesday is Doctor's Day, and my best friend is a physician...so, working on sugar cookies to take to her office on Tuesday. Going to make a cake too (any excuse right?), so I'm going to get my fondant ready tonight as well.

busy is good... at least we know we are doing something right. ha ha Too Busy... not good. Don't want to sacrifice quality for quantity. I would rather have fewer cakes and enjoy working on them.

Nothing tonight. Tomorrow, IF I feel up to it, I'll purchase the ingred for and make my birthday cake. Was originally going to make myself a Black Forest Cake, but that's pretty labor-intensive. We'll see...may end up not having a birthday cake or just getting one at Publix this year, all depends on how I feel.

Just wanted to say that I feel your pain, my dog was hit by a car last year, and it cost $4000.00, same thing major pelvic problems, she is healthy and normal now, so it was worth it.

Working on a birthday cake for tomorrow for a family at church. I am using their recipe for a dense devil's food cake with a fudgy icing. I hate this icing- it hardens up immediately, no working time at all. I added more cream, which helped only enough to at least get the cake covered. Does not allow me to smooth out any spots. Oh well, it tastes good, and I am putting dots and spirals all over.
I tried using my Cricut to cut the pieces, but didn't leave enough time to figure everything out. So I cut the name out of paper to use as a stencil, then used the Xacto to cut the fondant. Came out OK.

Bellsnbows, sorry about your pup! One of ours got demidex mites, and several thousand dollars later, finally started getting better. The vet was calling vet schools all around, and no one had seen a case as bad as ours. It's a miracle he made it! I never thought I would spend that kind of money on a dog, but when he was so sick, I couldn't say no. We had adopted his brother and him, and they certainly are a great pair!

Just delivered 100 cupcakes to a client, now I am working on designs for an upcoming wedding cake order. 3 tier, all white fondant, pink ribbon around bottom of each tier, stargazer lilies, and white/pink orchids are the brides demands. Seems pretty easy! This is my first actual wedding cake. I have made tiered cakes before, but that was just practice... Wish me luck!
