My sister saw this cake and wants it for her sweet 16 - but i have never made a tiki hut before - i was wondering if anyone knew how to make the sides of the tiki hut - is it just rolled fondant?
a few other questions - the trees that are holding up the tiki part of the cake - how do you do the brown part of the tree that is wrapped around the supporters?
Also wondering if anyone knew how to make the little signs that were on the cake - any help would be great!!
Thank you.
I love that cake ! It's a great cake for a 16th birthday
I think the one in the photo might be piped buttercream for the sides of the top cake, but not being very experienced with buttercream I'd use fondant.
You could maybe use a petal cutter and fondant for the trees around the cake pillars, and just curl each piece back a little.
You could make the signs from fondant too, the writing could be piped, written in edible pen or you could even have them printed with edible ink/paper.
Good luck
Lyndsey xx
