Holy Cow! I've never seen orange cake mix before. I read several recipes on CC calling for orange cake mix and several comments about not being able to find it. Well I found it today at a small grocery store. I guess DH still makes orange mixes, maybe other stores can get it if you ask.
Missouri ...... I guess that's too far for me to drive from Wisconsin to pick up a few boxes. I have been looking for it for a long time and have never ever run across it any where. Lucky you! Let us know how your cake turns out and tastes.
I know, I have been looking forever too. FInally found it at a local dollar store, but 2.29 a box! LOL! some dollar store! I have found some hard to find flavors on amazon.com, sometimes free shipping.
Peridot...if you live near a Burnstads Pick N Save or Woodmans they have the orange cake mixes there.
OMG! - i have been looking everywhere for it too! - I used to be able to get it at Walmart at Thanksgiving time - well a customer wants it for one of the tiers in her wedding cake - well i was like - what am i going to do - i cant find it anywhere - well i went in to this little meat market that i go to for meat - well i just decided to look at what they carried - WELL - THERE IT WAS - 10 BOXES! - i had to take it - ALL - and the manager said not to worry - he'll order more - SOOO HAPPY!
I live in Michigan and our local Meijer store they had DH mixes on sale last week 10 for $10 with the 11th mix free! They had the orange mixes and I bought several but have not tried them yet. Sounds yummy
It is hard to find around here, also, so when I see it I grab a bunch! Also, it is SOOO good when made with OJ instead of water. Enjoy!
My local grocery store carries both the DH Lemon and Orange supreme cake mixes. I have tried both kinds, both made according to package directions and "doctored" and none of the cakes came out good. They were all very dense and eggy tasting.
Giant in Pennsylvania carries the orange flavored cake mix if anyone is looking for it here.
i usually make my own orange cake, start with a yellow or white cake mix, add your wilton or americolor orange to it, I like to make mine really orange for the wow factor when they cut into it and then I add orange extract which I can find year round in the baking aisle. My stores never seem to carry orange year round. !

I've never heard of orange cake mix, let alone seen it anywhere.
And to piggy back off that dollar store story, I once got some toothpaste from the dollar store. Thought I got a pretty good deal, worked well. Then I went to Target and saw they carried the same kind for 97 cents! I got ripped off at the dollar store!!!
I also make my own by adding mandarine oranges (and water) for the liquid, orange food coloring and orange flavoring to a yellow cake mix. The mixer chunks up the orange slices... it's very good with whipping cream filling (you know...a dreamsicle cake).
I have been dying to use this cake mix, alternating layers of the orange and a dark chocolate cake, kind of like torted, three layers of cake, alternating flavors, with a filling of dark chocolate orange ganache, and an orange meringue buttercream. I think it would look kinda cool when cut to see the orange and then the chocolate and the pretty fillings. I imagine it would taste great too. I love chocolate and orange together!

I'm from Wisconsin too, I saw it at woodman's the other day.
Too far away for me, but good to know it is still around! I thought it had been discontinued - I used to have the Orange, Lemon, and Strawberry DH mixes all the time at my store, and now they only carry the SBerry or Lemon or none at all. Last time I wanted to make an Orange Creamsicle cake (the "Stewie" cake in my photos) I used a white cake mix and added orange jello powder and some orange oil. I am always on the hunt for this - I love Orange cake with choc frosting
Ooooooh - orange and chocolate layers in a cake - what a brilliant idea for a Halloween cake - thanks

My husband's favorite cake is WASC made with DH orange cake mix, orange extract and Rich's Bettercreme so that it tastes like a dreamsicle.
It comes out with the same, not too fluffy - not too dense texture as the other WASC variations (Rebecca Suttery or kakeladi's).
what us bettercream, is that a buttercream? sounds like something my hubby would like, he loves dreamsicles
I remember my mom making orange cake using a mix and she substituted Orange Crush Soda for the liquid. We also made Orange Crush Ice Cream. I think the recipe foir that is on the internet. My mom and my aunt were really into fruity things...a gooey strawberry cake, and another lemon cake you almost needed a spoon to eat it was so gooey. Prolly about 5000 calories a serving too. No wonder I was fat my whole life. (I've lost 84 lbs since last June, so I'm not eating like that anymore )

Rich's Bettercreme as prterrell said is a non-dairy (although not dairy-free) whipped frosting/filling that comes either in liquid form (which you whip) or in a Ready To Use form (prewhipped)in a bucket.

Rich's also makes many toppings & other products but not all products are shelf stable (at normal temperatures) for five days.

I must say I am shocked you can't get this. There are a ton of food items we can only get in the states but we actually get DH orange mix in Canada.
I love it with a whipped cream filling and covered in chocolate ganache.
I also bought the orange cake mix I was excited to try some orange chocolate cake, and some cake truffles
