Is Tissue Paper Food Safe?

Just wondering if anyone knows is tissue paper is food safe or not. Thanks bunches icon_lol.gif

The stuff you buy on the giftwrap aisle is most likely NOT food safe, not to mention most likely not color-safe. If it gets the slightest bit wet, it will transfer color to other surfaces. I would be very concerned about the dyes and other chemicals used in making the tissue.

I buy waxed tissue paper at The Container Store to line my cookie boxes. It comes in very limited color choices but I use the red checked and red polka dot. It is the only place that I can find it at. This is the only tissue paper that is food safe. Do not get it confused with the waxed tissue paper that is used for floral. Hope this helps.
