Yikes. I just tried shrinkwrapping a tray of cookies for my nephew's birthday and the glace decoration actually started melting and distorting. Has anyone successfully done this?
I was wondering the same thing. I want to be able to shrink wrap individual cookies or vacuum seal them so way so they look more professional.
I've been looking around for a product but haven't found anything useful -- yet. Any ideas?
I too have wrapped cookies tightly in plastic wrap, then tied the bottom like a cookie bag.
I was shrinking a tray of cookies so i can travel with them and not have them move around. Oh well, i guess the glace cant take the heat.
Tina those look great, I may have to try that. . . once I get over my hatred of royal icing!
How long did you let them dry? I've done it after about 48 hours of drying and it worked fine.....
Oh, they were completely dry before i packed them. As a matter of fact, they were individually wrapped first and then put on a tray to shrink wrap. So the heat when through the shrink wrap as well as the cello bag.
Tina, how did you wrap the plastic wrap around the cookies that were on the sticks? DId you poke the sticks through the plastic wrap before wrapping & tapping? I don't know why I haven't thought of that---it would be soooooo much cheaper!
For trays of cookies I LOVE Glad Press 'N Seal. I use Antonia74s RI & haven't had a problem. What may be happening is condensation is forming under the wrap & it will cause nightmares!
dandelion I just laid the cookie on a square of plastic wrap (face down) and then gathered the plastic wrap in the back of the cookie.........so the stick wasn't "through" the wrap......the wrap just went just below the cookie on the stick and then around to the back (hope that makes sense)...........then I just twisted the plastic wrap in the back and coiled the twisted part onto itself and stuck a piece of packaging tape (clear heavy tape) over the coil of wrap. Because plastic wrap has some "stretch" to it, it allows you to really shape it to the cookie! I also love how it almost disappears when you get it nice and tight...........and I like how it gives the cookies a "shiny" appearance to me, even though the cookie itself isn't shiny. (stinks for taking photos though lol)
Lol. I was going to say the same thing about pics I hate taking pics of bagged cookies
