I did a faux cake for a friend a while back, and now another bride wants this same cake. see link below.

The bride wants the top cake 6" real and the rest fake (2 -8" & 10"). How much do I charge for this? She wants dark brown ribbon and real flowers on it.
it would be up to you and based on your "ingredients" (sometimes the dummies cost more than real cake ingredients) and time spent, just like any other cake order.
I personally charge $2.25/serv. for bc tiered cakes and $1.50/serv. for faux tiered bc cakes. The only reason there is ANY reduction in price is because of the convenience factor for me (especially since I HATE baking), I can work on the cake over the course of 2 weeks if I want vs. the day before the wedding (to keep the cake fresh) and I don't have the time or expense of any structure (dowels, boards, etc. for each cake) of stacking a real cake. I also save time with clean up of dishes/kitchen from baking all the cakes.
HTH
I have never done a dummy to sell just to practice on. However my part-time job is assisting a wedding coordinator and we did a wedding this weekend where the 5 tier cake was a dummy and the bride paid $1200. It was a nice cake but in my opinion not worth that money. It had 4 round tiers and one square tier (the bottom) and 4 tiers had polka dots and one tier had a fondant pleated wrap.
IT sure did have that wow effect though.
KHalstead, do you think $120 would be a fair price for this cake. 6' real, (2) 8" fake and 10" fake. All my supplies and ingredients cost $43.54. Would it make sense for them to keep the faux and not return it.
