Thank you for the pictures-I need visuals, so that is a big help! It looks like on the 19 CC one, that there are toothpicks. Do the toothpicks go through the plastic cup and into the styro ball? Then the cupcake is poked into the toothpick? Thanks!!

for the full 19 cupcake bouquets there is NO bucket. they're made in the taller 5 oz. cups an then the cups are secured to a 10" or 12" cake circle and then I put tissue paper on the cake board and glue it up the sides of the cups to hide them. You would need a huge bucket since the bouquet of 19 bouquets is about 10" across!

KHalstead, I love it. Thank you so much for sharing this technique; your bouquets are beautiful. I have some questions for you.

What diameter was the opening for the 7 cup and the mini bouquets; how many cc were used in the mini bouquet (right now I can't recall if the amount for the mini's was mentioned, if so sorry)? TIA!

the 7 cupcake bouquet was made in a flower pot that was 6" in diameter (measurement across the cent of the opening from side to side), the pots for the minis was about 8" across and there were 30 in there. HTH

me too, How did you secure the toothpics? You would think they would slide thru the bottom from the weight of cc? Thank you so much for sharing your info!!!

KHalstead cup method is the best. I made two bouquets this weekend and they turned out great. I can't wait to make more. (now I just have to remember to wipe the buttercream from my hands before I handle the pots. lol )

Mickeebabe - those look great! I just bought my pots and am getting ready to try mine. Hope to post a pic in the next couple of days! If you have any other advice, I'd be happy to hear! (Good to know about the sticky fingers icon_lol.gif )

I usually use a clear acrylic spray for those pots.........not only buttercream but ANYTHING that touches them will absorb and mess em' up!

All of the above pointers are FANTASTIC!!! I have made several in all different sizes over the past few weeks so I thought i would share a few pointers of my own:

- I was buying the 1oz cups from a bar for $3 for 50 (way too expensive) I found a case from my USFoods supplier - 5000 for $48.86! Thats less than a penny a piece! More cups than I'll ever need but at that price

- Walmart has a great selection of stickers in their scrapbooking section, many of them $1, that can be used to decorate the side of a plain pot

- Always be on the look-out for cute containers. You never know when the right time will come up. I have found some great ones at thrift stores for $.50 each! Walmart has an aisle of dishes and glasses that change with the season and are usually a dollar or two. Target has cute metal pails in the little dollar area right inside the front of the store

- If you are using a taller container and want to make sure it is not top heavy - drop a cheap bag of candy into the bottom (I bought a bunch of bags of jelly beans on Easter clearance). This will help weigh down the bottom and make a nice suprise when the cupcakes are gone

I went to Restaurant Depot and they have several different sizes of cups. Is there a particular size you use for the regular and the mini's? Forgive me if this has already been answered.

Just wondering... Do you ice the cupcakes before placing in the bouquet or do you place the cc inside the plastic cups in the bouquet then ice the cc? Which is the better way? Thanks

This is an awesome, AWESOME idea! Unfortunately, I suck at making buttercream roses. If anyone has an alternative flower/design for the bouquets, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Here is a nice plastics company that I've ordered from before. I loved their 6 piece plastic cupcake holders!

Here's their portion cups:
http://plasticcontainercity.com/Plastic_Food_Packaging_Saucesl.htm

But since I didn't have those cups on hand, I used 6 oz styrofoam cups (no 5oz avail.)
my cupcakes slid..so the first batch I cut every cup down to size..so they didn't slide..but it made them shorter.
So the next one I didn't cut the top off the cups..I just eyeballed where they sit..took the cupcake back out and poked a toothpick through the cup to act as a stabilizing "rack". Since I was still worried about the cupcakes falling. I hot glued the tips of the toothpick that stuck out the side of the cup.

HTH for those who can't find what they need in a pinch icon_smile.gif

Hi, shawna200! You can always use the 1M or 2D tip to make these roses. Most people here do vs making roses doing petals. Holding your tip striaght up & down, start in the center of your cupcake & squeeze your icing as you turn your cupcake clockwise, ending the icing on the outside edge. Very easy, fast & pretty. icon_wink.gif

God works in mysterious ways! I searched and searched for those little plastic cups in the party stores near me, to no avail. Then, when visiting my sister in Cleveland last week, she pulled a whole pkg of them from a cupboard and asked if I had any use for them. She said she's trying to de-clutter the house. I jumped on the offer!
