A little while ago i hit the view unanswered posts thread, and was so shocked at how many posts/questions have gone unanswered. I have spent the last hour going through some and offering what advice or knowledge i have on the subject, but since i dont know it all lol.. .. i am sending a call out to all my fellow CC''s ...let's see if we can pull our knowledge and help answer some of the zero response posts/questions !! What do you guys say? Let's help our buddies out.

It's really ironic that no one has replied to this yet. Haha.

But yeah, I see what you're saying... Most of the time, I imagine it's just because the people with the 'answers' aren't online at the time the question is posted... Most people on here are super helpful, I've found.

It is a good idea but be careful when answering the really, really old posts. Most likely they have reposted and got an answer or figured it out by now. Answering all of them will flood the first page and make it difficult for posters with new questions to get an answer.

Lately I have found that many of my posts are going unanswered- time of year? Not sure why. Anyway, I always try to help with the unanswered ones, but usually they are something I have no experience with...

Not to be the party pooper,but alot of the times posts go unanswered because they have been asked before and "the ones with the answers" might not have time to reanswer them.I tyr to answer the posts even if its to tell them to do an advanced google search to see if they can find their answer.

Does anyone know where you can get white margarine? I don't want crisco because I need something with an emulsifier in it. Hopefully I'll get an responce today.

It's quite possible no one knows the answer. Unfortunately a lot of the really knowledgable members are no longer on this site.

I'll call around to my local markets today and see if they carry anything like that. Thanks for the lead at this point anything helps.

Sometimes, when you see an unanswered post with say 50 or so views, it's the question.

Sometimes it's been answered and the use of the search function will provide the answer Seriously, any question that asks about pricing or licensing has likely been answered. Ditto any question about how many servings.

Sometimes it's an answer that could easily been found with Google. Such as what's the difference between the Cake Cricuit and a regular Cricut.

And every once in a while, the question demonstrates such a profound lack of understanding of even the most basic elements of caking that you just can't bring yourself to answer. Like, is chocolate cake good?

Recently, I think there have been 15 posts about modeling chocolate - all pretty much the same question. I tried responding with my limited knowledge the first few times, but it got very old, and I just started replying with the link to the other threads. The search feature is really not that hard to use...maybe people just want an immediate and personal response? I don't know.

I do try to help where I can, because so many people on here have been helpful to me. And I do think, while there are a great many helpful and VERY knowledgeable people on here, there are more than a few who recently have been removed from the website. I'm sure it's hard for people like Leah and Debi to reply to EVERY thread (although I'm quite confident they could single-handedly answer every single one quite succinctly!

Another thought is sometimes a person will post the question twice in different forums or the internet will hick up and it will post it twice. So while there is an unanswered post, there may be another exact post with several answer.

Yes, there are a lot of missing "old timers."

Maybe newbies post the same questions a lot because the search TAB no longer works. (?) It took me a while to figure out that I could not use the big tab any more, I had to go to the white-letters-on-purple-backgrounds searches that are located on the strip beneath the tabs.

P.S. The search tab APPEARS to work, but if you try to click any of the forum links, you cannot access them.

I personally find the search feature difficult to use. You have to word your search just right. Or you have to have the exact key words and use "and" "or", etc. Most people just are not familiar with how to use online searches. I've done a lot of online searching and know how to do it and even I get frustrated.

I can't even imagine someone like my mom or my mother-in-law on here trying to search for a specific answer. I get phone calls when they can't open their email with them saying their computer is broken! LOL

Why have all the "ones with the answers" (haha) been removed from the site?

WHen I was posting i made sure to check the post date. I fiugred some of the older questions got answered. or reposted. I too have just posted links to other sites where the subject has been answered. But atleast it helps people find their answers, which is always good. and i have noticed that search links lead me to error page or just dont allow me to click on it. I thought maybe it was just my browser or something..

The Search feature on CC is very difficult and needs to be improved considerably. I have yet to find the answer when I have used the Search feature. If there is an easy, productive, efficient way to use the Search feature I wish that there would be a section where instructions are given on this kind of thing. I don't appreciate spending 20 minutes battling the Search feature and still not finding what I am looking for. If you want an answer what other choice do you have put to post your question.

And yes it is a shame that so many of the knowledgable members are gone. I miss them and the the information they shared with all of us.

Oh no! Which "old-timers" are missing and why? I have been out of the cake loop lately...too much family drama keeping me busy and out of the kitchen.

A real wasy way to get a search is to
1. go to google

2. click on advanced search(just to the right of where you type in stuff

3. put what you are looking for in the first line

4. where it says search within a site or domain - type in cakecentral.com

It will bring up all it finds on cc for you! Works like a charm.

I never use the search feature here...it's just not helpful. I use google, and do the advanced search so it brings up CC.
The people with answers are gone. Not everyone liked their answers, so they were banned.

Can-doo, there is another thread devoted to this topic...but not really any answers. I think things here will stay slow (and dare I say boring?!) for awhile, since the "life of the forum" people were removed. And they were the ones who really made a point of answering posts.
It's hard, at least for me, to give answers to questions, since I still have so many questions of my own!! It's like the blind leading the blind to the mixer!
