What is the difference between meringue powder and albumen powder?

Is one better than the other?

meringue powder has cream of tartar added to it so it will foam up and make a meringue. Albumen pwder is just plain powdered egg whites as far as I am aware.

I use CK brand meringue powder exclusively for royal icing. It works the best. You can purchase it at http://www.countrykitchensa.com
