There are a couple of YouTube videos on fondant roses. I am on my phone so don't have the links but just go to YouTube.com and search fondant roses or gumpaste roses. Good luck

just keep practicing! my second and third ones werent as good as my first! haha beginners luck i think.. also, i used white modeling chocolate for mine, i find modelling chocolate easier to work with rather than fondant.. seriously, the majority of my cakes are disasters! but i still love making them and hope that one day ill be as good as the people on here!

Chezzajd,

Since you use this method, can you tell me if you have to put anything on your hands like crisco? Do you prefer fondant, gumpaste any special medium? I need to make some really pretty roses for a friends cake and I like this style but have never tried to hand mold the petals.

Also do you trim the base off before the flower dries? That seems obvious but just want to make sure.

I love my 5petal cutter for making quick roses, do three rounds and there you go. Makes it speedy and easy to graduate the colour. Use with cornflour/icing sugar mix 50/50 as the cornflour doesn't dry out as fast. I dry them in egg cartons, didn't use wire, just did the core and one round of petals, then left sitting upsidedown in an egghole while I did two more the same, then back to the first for round two of the petals, repeat, then round three I dry right way up with tissue between the petals. Would be easier to hang upside down with wires but I have nowhere to hang them and no wire right now. HTH.

i do my roses different to how ive seen alot, i start with a core, then add two petals, then 3, then 5, then 7, i find that works for a nice full rose, although getting through all of that isnt as different as the videos on youtube, i just like the extra two petals icon_smile.gif
