I've got some cookies I want to do, and the design is screaming for luster dust. Problem is, I've never used the stuff! Any pointers on how to apply it to cookies iced with glace? What about colors? Is there one that is basically clear, that I can dust the entire cookie with....without affecting the colors? Hope someone can help!

I've not used lustre dust ,but have shimmer dust sure they're similar.I just sprinkled it on, but next time I will brush it on.It highlighted the cookie beautifully.I've also used PME lustre spray, love that stuff. Just don't spray to closes to the cookies or they get splotchy.

i just dip a dry brush in the dust and brush it on. I use the pearl color. I have also mixed it with vodka and brushed it on. HTH

Susan - were you wanting to try putting it on dry or wet?

As you know, I've never used glace, only RI... but I have used luster dust with RI on cookies. I've brushed it on dry... it's very subtle and makes it a bit sparkly/shiny. I've also painted it on (tea cup cookies) by mixing it with a little bit of vodka first.

I'm not sure if it will work the same on glace.... hope that helps some!

I love the super pearl luster dust...but I've only used it on fondant, not glace. It gives such a nice sheen to the fondant, but doesn't obscure the color if you dust it on dry with a light hand.

Thanks so much for the responses! I'll be heading out to buy some dust tomorrow. I hope the finished cookies look as good in real life as they do in my head.

Bonnie - I'll probably try it dry, but I'm thinking I'll make an extra cookie or two to try putting it on wet (didn't know if that would work with glace). Assuming everything goes according to plan, and I have time to bake tomorrow. The projects are starting to stack up!

GeminiRJ if it is a bit of sparkle you want I did some cookies last week with disco dust and they came out beautiful and you just sprinkle the disco dust on them while the icing is wet. I am pretty sure it will work on the glaze. Also I used the pearl color.

Have fun Susan! I can't wait to hear how your experimenting goes and see pictures of your cookies!

hi susan,
i love the PME pearl luster dust SPRAY and i have used it on glace with great results. it doesn't change the base color other than just lightning it a very small bit, it just makes it pearly. and it goes on evenly with no brush strokes. even better is that it doesn't nearly come off as easily as when it is brushed on. of course, this will be of no help if you are just lustering (is that a word?) a small area icon_smile.gif.

This sound like something I'm going to have to give a try! I used to have some, actually. Hmmmmm. Maybe it's still in my cupboard? I wonder if it has a shelf life.
