After reading about these cuppie bouquets, I thought, too cute...I think I'll give it a try. After scouting around my little po'dunk town, I could only find 5 oz white cups, no 2 oz and not clear. Okay, I'll go with that. The shape of the cup fit my cupcake perfectly without having to put another 2 oz cup inside; perfect for getting your fingers around them and popping them out into your mouth with little to no mess. Also, it fit just great in my pot. THANK YOU KHALSTEAD for the great tutorial on cup usage. I also used MELVIRA's Bettercreme idea infused with orange flavoring on top of a french vanilla cuppie. THANK YOU MELVIRA for your inspiration on all the great flavoring for Bettercreme. So here is a picture of my first attempt...only hoping to get better with practice.

they look beautiful!!! I've never tried to put the full 5 oz. cups into a container, usually just use the 2 oz. cups when it's going to be in a pot.......but it looks awesome!!

By the way...........I just saw 2 oz. cups at Dollar General yesterday! They're new, they've never had them before. They're called "small party cups" and they are exactly the same as what I use. 50 to a package for $1.00

Okay, seriously this is GREAT!!! I tried the cupcake bouquet idea 2 years ago for Mother's Day and it was a BIG FLOP! I might just have to give this another try.

KHalstead, really, I think that I am going to make a trip to see you! I absolutely adore all of your work!!!

Just when you learn the answers someone changes the questions! At least that is what I thought! I have only made one cupcake bouquet & I thought I was following your instructiuons until I saw your last post. Are you saying to ONLY use the 2 oz cups when making cupcake bouquets in pots (containers) & use the 5 oz cups with the 2oz cups inside it when you do the BIG bouquet (19 cupcakes) that you glue to a board & don't use a pot? I had done a small container with only 5 cupcakes & used both size cups thinking that was what I was supposed to do. I didn't really think I needed BOTH cups, but I thought I had better do it the correct way you taught. icon_confused.gif

you got it!!

2 oz. cups when you're putting it in a container (since they're short and squatty and will allow you a more natural "bouquet" shape when they're put togethre.


5 oz. cups when you're making a bouquet that will "stand alone" with no container. The larger/taller cups make the bouquet nice and tall in the center when doing a full 19 cupcake bouquet and give the overall "bouquet" look nicely.


When making the large bouquets I put the 2oz. cups inside the 5 oz. cups because one time when I made a bouquet the cupcakes were trying to slide down and in the big cups (it was red velvet cake and VERY soft) and it was nearly impossible to get the cupcakes out when it was time to eat (good thing it was just a bouquet for friends and family!) The 2 oz. cups are shallow so there is nowhere for the cupcake to go.


Your bouquet looks great anyhow with the bigger cups, I think if you had used the 2 oz. cups it would have tilted the cupcakes a little more to the sides and given you more of a rounded top on the bouquet.


I have to figure out how to arrange the tissue paper! I always try to put it in the bouquets and then the icing always touches and makes grease spots and I rip it out!! lol

icon_smile.gif I know what you mean by the tissue paper getting grease spots from the icing. I have seen ppl on here that have posted their bouquets with using silk leaves instead.... icon_rolleyes.gif Something to think about~~~

oooh...........great idea!!! The dollar stores always have tons of leaves on stems in a big bunch for next to nothing!

I did do one bouquet with a couple silk flowers in it, but looked a little cheesey.

I was wanting a look like this basket (found the pic online)

Oh, that is pretty! I think I would stick with fondant flowers with the cupkcakes....silk leaves, maybe. You could also make your leaves from the fondant & not use the tissue paper at all. icon_rolleyes.gif In the cupcake bouquet I made, I realized it needed a few mini cuppies or something to fill it in, so I put a few cake ball pops that I had made into it before I gave it to my neighbor. (didn't get a picture of the finished bouquet as it was a last minute idea.....like as I was walking out the door! LOL IMO, it looked really nice.

awesome ideas!! I was going to make these for gifts for mother's day, but didn't like the idea of the styrofoam ball and toothpicks.....perfect fix!!! thanks!!! icon_smile.gif

YES this is what they look like.


Just wanted to add too, that the mini bouquets turned out good. The customer was VERY happy.

I hot glued the mini 1 oz. cups all together, about 30 of them total for each bouquet. I used a 7" metal pail (provided by customer) and then used a skewer and poked a tiny hole in the center of each cup and then stuck a toothpick in the hole. The toothpick was REALLy tight in the hole and didn't budge. Then I took a mini cupcake, and attached it to the top of my flower nail with a smudge of icing and piped a full rose right on top of it

Then put the cupcakes in the freezer for about 20 min. until the icing was nice and firm.
Then I poked a hole in the cc liner with a skewer and put the cupcake down into the cup letting the toothpick go through the hole in the liner and up iinto the cupcake.

I flipped one of the fully assembled bouquets (I had to make 7 of them) completely upside down and held it for a count of 3 and not ONE cupcake budged! It was very sturdy.

Also, I figured out a brilliant way to transport them (since that is always an issue) I took a foam paper plate and cut a hole in the center just big enough to fit the bottom of the bouquet pail. Then flipped the plate upside down so that it was raised up in the center. Then I used hot glue around the very rim of the plate (low temp. glue so it doesn't shrivel the plate) and secured it to the bottom of a box. Then I was able to just set the bouquet within the ring created by the plate and it was very sturdy, the bouquets didn't move a centimeter whatsoever! I put 5 in a huge computer box (arranged like the dots on a dice, 1 in each corner and 1 in the center)
and then put the other 2 bouquets in another smaller box and just put plastic wrap over the top of the boxes, worked perfectlly.

I made a cupcake bouquet only once, and had the problem of the icing sliding off a few of them. I froze them before adding the frosting, and am wondering if that was why? Do you think the thawing out made the icing slip off? I want to make some for Mother's Day but don't want them to be a flop. Thanks for your cup idea- - love it!!!

If one were to sell these bouquets, how would you "package" them for transport/giving? I have a dentist's office that I do many "bouquets" for...some cake balls, some cookies. (I previously placed my bouquets in a food bag secured at the top with a ribbon.) They are really interested in the cupcake bouquets for Mother's Day but don't really have an idea for at least transportion...don't want to smear the icing. I really think they should be covered in some way because I deliver the lot of them and they sit in their office until they are ready to go home. Don't really want anyone accidentially sneezing on them or something, huh? Eeewwwe.. Any suggestions would be soooo appreciated. TIA

I use the filing folder boxes like this

and then attach a foam plate with a hole cut out of the center to the bottom (I can fit 2 in a box), then just stick the bouquet into the hole in the plate and it keeps it from tipping over, then just pop the lid on top!

Most customers return the box, though I don't require it. I get them at Sam's for about $2.00 each, so I just build that into the cost of the bouquets.

You could really use ANY cardboard box though, the product isn't coming into contact with the box.
