How Do You Ice A Cake In 2 Colors Diagonally?

I thought I saw a tutorial or something somewhere but sure can't find it now. I'd like to do it in buttercream only (no fondant).
Kinda' like this one: http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1556861
I would pipe the icing on exactly where you need it...and then smooth from there and use ribbon or whatever to cover the seam like in the above cake.
Do you think if I freeze it a bit after putting on the first color, I'll be able to ice and smooth the 2nd color without totally trashing it? Sounds like a plan, but you know, my plans always sound good in my head! LOL

I probably wouldn't freeze it, just chill it for maybe an hour and it will be hard enough for you to ice the second color....
Thanks! I'm gonna' give it a try this weekend -we'll see how it goes. I'm thinking it was some old wilton book that showed how to do it but I can't find it.

Freeze it just enough to firm up first application of icing. Apply wax paper over the chilled icing to protect from over spread from second/top application of icing. Chill again. Pull off wax paper. Clean line.
hth!
Oooh - great idea! Thanks so much! (Hope this doesn't double post again - I don't know what's up with that!)
