I just got this e-mail from a bride. First of all, I had to laugh out loud that she wants ANGLE food cake. Never heard of it. Apparently she's not a rocket scientist. But secondly, why do people think they're going to get a positive response when they take this tone right from the start?

This is the e-mail.

"I am looking for someone to make angle food cake for aprrox. 200 people...Please don't waste my time with boxed angle food cakes since that would be something I could do myself."

Trust me, I'm all too happy not to "waste her time..." All I can say is, if you think you can do "angle" food cake yourself, knock yourself out sister.
If she had simply said, "I'm specifically looking for someone who can make angel food cake from scratch...", then I would have responded. As it is, I think I'm just going to hit delete. I hate the attitude. Now that I'm back to working in a corporate job full-time and I'm only doing cakes part-time again, I don't have time for the grief of a rude little brat of a bride.

Okay, there's my vent.

Wow, she was nasty! Don't you sometimes wonder why the guy proposed in the first place?

What? She said "please" so that makes it polite. If that doesn't earn her an angle food cake, I don't know what does.

Yeah, probably she's just unsophisticated and tactless, but I think it's a glimpse into how she may act times 10 when she's actually under stress as the wedding approaches. I just don't have time for it.

She's a woman who obviously knows what she wants...I wonder what she would do if you gave her an topsy turvy cake...that's "angled" isn't it? Some people are just too smart for their own good.

She'll be waiting a long time for a response considering "angle" cake doesn't exist, from a box or scratch!

Yes, what's with that? Is this a variation of: the best defense is a good offense....

So is this the logic: if I have an attitude from the beginning you don't dare "mess" with me (and you'll do anything I want).

I'm with you Ruth, I don't think that's going to be happening any time soon.
