Aarrrggghhhh!! I Burnt The Ruddy Cake!

I have a cake due tomorrow night, it's to be iced in bc and the woman is collecting a couple of days before she needs it so I planned to bake tonight and ice tomorrow to keep it as fresh as possible.
Well I burnt the ruddy cake and now I don't have enough butter to make a new one tonight.
I've had to change the design slightly to take the pressure off myself tomorrow. Hopefully the lady won't mind too much..
that stinks, I know exactlly how you feel!!
Not too long back I had the same thing happen, the first set of cakes I burned, (4 cakes baking at once for a 2 tiered cake) the second set just wouldn't finish baking...........after 2 hrs. I realized my oven was broken!!!
I carted everything the morning of the day the cake was due over to my mom's house and baked them, decorated, rushed to deliver and slipped and fell on ice (didn't drop the cake though) although there was damage!!
Fast forward a couple weeks, I'm healed from the fall, customer of cake felt badly that I fell, loved the cake anyhow and now I have a brand new stove w/ a glass top lol
Well I got it done. It took 3 bakes to achieve a cake that wasn't burnt or falling apart, although the third one did try.
My plan to make it easier fell through so i had to pipe the lettering straight onto the cake which I'm useless at. I think the border disguises it a bit though.

Your writing looks good to me. Mind you thats why I always use fondant lettering cut out. My writing is pitiful too and it always spoils the look of a cake.
I've seen some amazing cakes that have been spoilt by badly writing. Such a pity all that work and then blah! But you cake looks fine.
BTW has anyone seek lettering cut outs that are small? Most are too big sometimes for the size of the cake and then you are forced to do piping which I try to get out of everytime.
Colliegirl - I cannot pipe full stop lol I use cuts outs too but as you say sometimes they are too big. I have found that I can use my 'clay extruder' I think most people call them on here to squeeze out the smallest rope and use that the write with it works quite well, well better than I can pipe anyway
