I have a request for a four tier cake, with 2 tiers stacked, then a separator that looks like a vase/lamp base with 2 more cakes on top of that. The separator is at least 4" high if not more. Has anyone worked with a separator like this? How do you make sure there is enough support? Put a clear plate under the separator then dowel? The separator did not have a flat bottom.

Also, how safe (support wise) does everyone consider push in pillars? Is there a way to replicate that look with better support?
