Was it the cranberry one? For Ocean Spray?

Buddy posted to cakeboss.com that there are certain cakes that he uses a cake mix. Please read on his site. Recipes are great and many compliments. Thanks!

I don't know what he uses, but I have been there twice and so I can say its great! Don't think I would ever go to Baltimore though.

There's an Elecrolux promo site that has a couple recipes from Buddy:

I found it through an ad that was on Cake Wrecks, of all places.
I'm shooting for somewhere between Cake Boss and Cake Wrecks.

I don't think Charm City Cakes is open to the public anyway, unless you have an appointment. Duff is a pastry chef so I would imagine they bake from scratch there.

I watch both shows but I can only watch Cake Boss for a short time...I just can't handle all the yelling. Their cakes are pretty wicked though. I'm surprised their open bakery can keep up with the walk in business now that they're so popular due to show.

Look at the blurb at the bottom of the linked page that begins... "All of our cakes, pastries, and cookies are made from scratch..."

I've been going to Carlo's for years--way before Buddy was on TLC or even Food Network, even before I was a pastry chef myself--and they have ALWAYS done a huge volume of customers, especially near the holidays, when there was almost always a line out the door, even 10-15 years ago when I first started going there.

<---wonders if anyone uses REAL ingredients anymore--sugar fruit nuts, cream, butter etc--instead of flavoring chemical cream from a bucket with pudding & jello and calling it "mousse"

they bake from scratch.... the reason they cake just get another layers if needed is because they freeze them... so they always have cake on hand....
Happy Caking!
