Just curious how many of you have/use these and your opinion on them. I was thinking of trying them because they are obviously easier to cut, therefor, easier to get even.
Also, for those that use them, do you mind sharing your supplier? I was going to order some yesterday, but shipping was 3 times the amount of the straws!
Thanks for you help!
I use them all the time!! I love them!! I get mine from a local Asian Supermarket for about .79 per pack.
I think they're great...very easy to use.
Here's where I purchased mine, though I got a pack of 172 from this seller: http://cgi.ebay.com/164-Giant-Boba-straws-cake-decorating-tiers-wood-dowel_W0QQitemZ220483837576QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3355dc5e88
I received them in 4 days, and they were slightly sturdier/firmer than a previous set of 50 I ordered from another site.
I should think they work awsome this weekend I had to improvise, I forgot to buy dowels for my cake so I used regular straws they were a lil thicker than regular straws but they were awsome. So I could only imagine a big o straw working wonders.
I never thought to check one of the Asian Markets! I just called and found them! Now I just need to have a tiered cake to do!
Thank you all for your help!
Good idea! i never thought about using them. I think I might try them out on my next cake. I usually use wooden dowel and hate having to cut them to get them straight.
I love bubble tea straws. I used them on a four-tier wedding cake this weekend and drove the cake to the venue assembled. No problems whatsoever and they are so much easier to cut and get even!

But you still have one long dowel going down through all the tiers to steady the cake, right? I've never done more than 2 tiers so you'll have to excuse my newbieness.
