Good morning all!

I am new to the site and just started getting more creative in the last few months.

I made a mocha frosting last night (coffe/chocolate) that turned out pretty good and then wanted to decorate it with chocolate shaved curls.

I searched the site and found some pictures that looked really neat!

I melted some dark and white chocolates, mixed and marbled them together in a plastic container and stuck it in the freezer to set up.

It said to use a vegetable peeler. So I tried this, many different way with 2 different peelers and even a cheese slicer. But this didn't give me the big curls like the picture showed. Instead I got mostly little shaved pieces.

I used them, and it' turned out ok but not nearly as nice as the pictures I saw.

What do you guys use to get the larger pretty curls of chocolate?

Thank you! Trish

you get bigger and prettier curls if your chocolate is slightly warm, not melty.....but the colder the chocolate the smaller the shavings.

Stick your chocolate under a lamp for a few minutes and try again.......you'll see a huge difference.

Keep the chocolate at room temp and then warm it up (still in the package) with your body heat. It will soften the chocolate just a teeny bit and allow you to get good curls. I use bit fat pieces of chocolate for big wide curls and then I use the side of a chocolate bar for thin tighter curls.
