Sorry if i havent posted in the correct section, i wasnt sure where this should go

A friend has asked me to make her daughters christening cake, shes always been a bit on the funky side, so i expected a really un-traditional cake idea from her, then she sent me this picture and it kind of blew me away, I have seen it before but i cant remember where, so if any one could help me find out where or whos it was, it would be greatly apreciated icon_smile.gif

sorry, i couldnt post the pic as its a bmp file, but heres the link

Bahahahaha... that's sort of disturbing! Is that a food safe baby doll stuck in the cake? icon_biggrin.gif

the first i got when i searched this picture was cake wrecks, i actually thought she was taking the micky when she asked me make this . . untill i read her email asking me to change the colour from blue to pink and i thought omg shes serious.. . .To me it looks like a baby baked in a cake, i find it garish, freaky and really weird for a christening, no matter how funky she is, Ive never had to talk any one out of a cake before , could any one give me some advice on how to do it ?

Maybe if you changed the baby to be sitting on the cake.

Yikes! I saw that on Cakewrecks too. Personally, I think that nothing good could come of making that cake for a christening. Even owing to a wacky sense of humor, that cake is really pushing the boundaries. Others might not get the 'humor' at all. I'd decline. It's gruesome.

I don't know who mad it but it wouldn't be that hard to make. You can use a ball pan or make the size of cake you need, stack it and then carve it into that shape. Go to a craft store that carry's supplies to make baby dolls and pick up a head, arms, and leggs. Then attach them to the cake and it will look like the poor baby is baked inside the cake.

Good luck

I thought maybe it was supposed to be a baby covered with a blanket...would look so much better as a sheet cake imho.

I consider myself to have a really good sence of humer and am very open minded but that cake would not be coming out of my home ...any way shape or size..Try just telling her you are NOT making that one for her .
But , if she insists..looks a 1/2 ball cake with a baby doll on top then covered in findant..wouldn't be hard to pull off ...just tacky as all get out

Maybe one of the baby butt cakes. Those are adorable. I'm making one for a friend in two weeks, can't wait to try my hand at it.

LOL !!!! thats my cake icon_razz.gif

Okay just kidding. lol !!!!
Maybe there is a very good explanaition for it. Why would someone waste their time to sculp a baby only to mess it up like that.

EDITED TO ADD:
okay its a doll I though that it was actually a sculpted baby.

Me too, for any occasion and especially a christening. Is she naming the baby "cake-a-lina" or "yum-yum" or "sweet-cakes"? At least then it would make some sense....good grief!
