Football Cupcake Cake Help!!!

HI! I'am looking for some advice on making one, should I do a flat surface frost or a swirl frost? Its for my nefews b-day party at school and thought i'd give it a try, its for 7 yr olds so i want it to look "cool" lol but there kids so they'll be happy just to get the sugar lol if anyone can suggest any ideas besides batter and baking the cakes i would be so thankful i mean any ideas from start to finish like if i should cut thr humps off the cakes or what and also i was thinking of doing the 2 thick seam lines at the corners but iam not sure what tip to use also if you have done this and have a pic could u please send it my way? I would icing the cupcakes smooth and then texture to look like a football. I use cheesecloth all the time when making football cakes. Just lay the cheesecloth on top of the icing about 5 minutes after you finish smoothing them out. Lightly press the cloth into the icing and remove. icon_biggrin.gif
