I just took an order for 5 dozen Mardi Gras cookies and I do not have the first cookie cutter for Mardi Gras icon_redface.gif They are due in 1 Week, yikes icon_eek.gif I will be looking for them in the mean time, but does any one have any ideas to use alternate cookie cutter shapes? Thanks in advance!!!

Do you have a crown cookie? If not, when I don't have a certain cutter I find and picture and create a template. First, I draw it on paper, then cut it out, then place it on top of a piece of cardboard cakeboard and cut it out. I get the cake board from a wholesaler very cheap.

Good Luck and Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler (Let the good times roll)!!!!

Both Kitchengifts.com and Coppergifts.com have mask cookie cutters. Those are fun cookies to do and great to dress up for Mardi Gras themes.

I was at Hobby Lobby the other day, and they had a whole wall of Mardi Gras stuff. I'm not sure if there were any cookie cutters, but you might call them and ask.

If you don't find a cutter and the template idea is too time-consuming, you could probably just make round cookies and decorate them in gold, green and purple with icings and sugars. HTH!

That is odd!! Our local store had tons, and it's not like I live in New Orleans or anything. My daughter does, though, and she's anticipating a WILD weekend down there as the Saints play in the Superbowl!

Do you have a number '0'? They can be turned into King Cakes.
Upside down hearts can be feather masks.
Ovals can be full face masks.
Diamond shapes iced in purple, green and yellow.

do you have a heart cookie cutter? I love these masks, done with the heart cutter upside down.

I don't know if we took pictures of them last year, I can't find them if we did; but here is a king cake.
I just made '0's, iced them white, and dipped them in yellow, green and purple sugar. (I dipped instead of sprinkled so they would be thickly crusted like the cakes always are.)
