Can someone please tell me how you do the wire with fondant/gumpaste attached to it? See picture above. I assume you need to put a straw in the cake to keep the wire from tearing the cake. Thanks.

Lollipop sticks work also, the wire will slide right down the middle.

In the future I suggest you put what your post is about in your title because lots of people will overlook "how do I do this" sort of titles...I know I learned this lesson myself. "Help with wires" will get a much larger response.

I just did this this weekend. You put the fondant shapes on the end with a bit of sugar glue, let them dry at least overnight. then use a posy pick to put the wires into (or staw or lollipop stick) and put into the cake. You can put sugarpaste, royal icing or melted chocolate into the posy pick to help the straws to stay put. hth

I always use a straw if i am inserting 1 wire or a posy pick if more, if the pick is to big i put in a small ball of sugar paste and then insert the wires into it. It stops the wires moving about.

Are you asking how to attach the sugar paste shapes to the wires?
just in case you are, I roll out the paste thick enough to insert the wire, then i dip the end of the wire into the sugar glue and insert carefully into the shape and then lay it flat to dry.
I have only been doing this for a few months so there may be better ways of doing this, but this way works well for me. hope this helps.

If you make a small, elongated "0" loop at the top of the wire before inserting it into the piece, too. It helps to grip more fondant/gum paste, so it tends to hold really well.
