You know, it's sad that the scammer emails actually have better grammar and spelling than this chick. Or maybe it IS as scammer and they're trying to sound like a "real American" by using textese?

Hellooo!! I'm like so much a young people, and I like totally don't see the problem ya'll talking 'bout!!!

I was at work when I read the this post and my colleagues couldn't understand why I was suddenly laughing so hard.
My parents write better English than that, and neither of us are English icon_cool.gif

My DH could not understand why I was laughing so hard (Tears were coming down). I feel that it is rather embarassing to aproach a professional or anyone that you are trying to do business with and talk/write with any type of slang. "Thank you, Mom, for teaching me how to communicate and respect others."

P.S. That pic of the bride made my day!!

I had a thought this morning... maybe she is doing it as a publicity stunt ordeal for possibly a reality show, or to get on a show? That seems a popular thing to do these days. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt too and say she might have a REAL wedding after this little stunt is over.
Again, she does sound young.

None of these factors excuse her from using proper English.

Make castle type cake and a bunch of tiers above it (mind you, it doesn't have to look good... just pass for kinda looking like a castle)... then put 3 knives between your fingers and slice the whole cake to holy heck. Tell her you invisioned Freddy going crazy on the cake!

Maybe she wants to be on bridezillas? She could have misunderstood, you know because they act like b*tches on the show, maybe she thought she needed to be a witch? Honest mistake, it happens all the time. But seriously, even for a scan she is pretty dumb since she is bargaining. I mean, if you're not planning on paying, who cares what the price is?

Honetly (not trying to be a party pooper) We cannot sit here and categorize the ethnicity of this person, and quite frankly I think thats a little wrong to point fingers. "Well a Mexican must of written it, or and asian, black, or so and so. icon_twisted.gif

Actually, I hope she does and it makes her reconsider this trainwreck.

No, that's not true. I hope she still has this trainwreck of a wedding, as long as we get pictures. I'm perfectly happy for someone else to make a willing idiot of herself for my amusement. icon_lol.gif

I actually think it could very well be real. There are tons of people that actually do speak like that and there are also a lot of people that are into the whole bloody-and-scary-is-thrilling so it's imaginable that a person with the two combined characteristics exists. Every bride wants theirs to be the most talked about wedding and for her, this could be the way to achieve that and also have"fun" at the wedding.

I had a mother planning a sweet sixteen for her daughter balk when I told her the going rate in our area for a cake for 300. She told me she had someone who had told her she could get it for $90! At best she'd pay $200 for a REALLY fabulous cake. Her friend chimed in to say she'd had a cake for 400 people at a party thrown for her birthday and she was sure her friends hadn't paid more than $300 for it so ... Did I mention she wanted 3 or 4 tiers with roses cascading down the side?????

I can't stand that! If they already found a cheap cake elsewhere then why come and tell you about it. If it fits the "cheapo budget" they have then take it! Do they think that all of a sudden the price will magically change because they claim someone else can do it for peanuts, my gosh! These type of people irritate me. You're buying a cake not a car!

A $90 cake for 300 comes out to 30 cents a serving. You can't buy a Hostess cupcake for that.

You're quite welcome! I have a few teachers in my family and it boils my blood to hear people blame the teachers for stuff like this.

Parents need to take some responsibility for their child's education.

Where are those teachers teaching? icon_confused.gif Not here in Georgia, where I work for the schools, nor in NC where both my mom and I were teachers. Teachers are paid a pittance compared to other professionals, the benefits are a pathetic joke and the pensions are scarcely better than social security.

As for parents and the students needing to take responsibility, the blaming and mistrust of teachers, I completely agree with both of you! I could get off on a whole novel-length tirade on the subject, but I won't!

It just kills me how lazy so many people are when it comes to speaking or writing properly!

If I see a sign up in a business with spelling or grammar mistakes, I get the manager and explain to him/her why it is wrong and write down a correction for him/her. If it's still up and incorrect the next time I go in there, I might not come back.

Ha, I one called a local news station and told them that the crawl across the bottom of the screen was spelled incorrectly, and that it was "inclement weather", not "inclimate weather." About three minutes later it changed! I'm with you on pointing those things out, unless they're so bad they amuse me, then I just leave it alone.

Gothic Wannabee Does Not Equal Hillbilly

When we categorize customers, we are placing ourselves on the same level...for example: when you say these people are "hillbillies", you not only offend those of us who are from those areas, you weaken your point.

If you lived in KY, you would know that we have over 54 colleges, universities, and community and technical colleges. Lexington is ranked 10th (percentage wise)in the USA of cities with population of college educated citizens...so I take exception with you, as well as Diane Sawyer, in quantifying my state in this manner.

We have hillbillies with huge hearts who have jobs and some have no job opportunities; we have educated people with and without employment; we have those who have no additional education who are wealthy, and vice-versa...we have people who want a Christian wedding and others who have not Christ in their lives who get married in all sorts of ways...wedding cakes are eclectic! It is a joining of two...at least these people are getting married! thumbs_up.gif

Please do not put all of us who live in a geographical area incorrectly in the same descriptive pot as your customers...I am a sixth generation educated person who is one of many from Eastern Kentucky...still raising her Kentucky family, baking/designing cakes, and loving "Cake Centralites", while NOT living as a "Gothic wannabee". None of us convey the description of your almost-a-customer who wanted a haunted house wedding cake. Our haunted houses are still inhabited. icon_wink.gif
...
p.s. we almost all bleed "blue"...go UK! (unless you live in Louisville and then you wear white on certain days and use a lot of red, black, and white on your cakes...hehehehehe...lovingly said for all of my clients who live there) icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif
