ISO Cheaper damask cupcake wrappers!

I'm doing a wedding waaay out of town at the beginning of June, so we're going with cupcakes to serve and a 'fake cake' to display. (Less headache than trying to drive 15 hours with a real cake!) The cake will be white fondant with black damask stencil, and I've found some gorgeous cupcake wrappers that match so beautifully! My question is, does anyone know where I can get them cheaper? The best price I can find right now is $65 for 100 of them, then approx $15 shipping. We're looking at roughly 80 cents per cup. Does anyone know of a place that will sell wholesale? The places that I have wholesale accounts do not have these lovely damask papers. icon_cry.gif

Those are gorgeous. Why don't you make them yourself. I've made my own cupcake wrappers a few times and they turned out great, and are much cheaper! Go to a craft store, like Michael's, and pick up some damask print scrap booking paper. Buy a pair of scalloped scissors and glue and use the template from the following website, and ur ready to go. Hope this helps! icon_wink.gif

Yah, that's an option, but I'm just not looking forward to making a hundred or more of them. Then again, there is enough time I could sit and do it at night while watching movies with the boys. That might not be so bad if I just did a few here and a few there. Do you know how many you can get on a standard sheet of paper? I'm thinking that could make a significant savings and that would be worth a few night of cutting and gluing! thumbs_up.gif

Hi, Melvira -- the price you show is the best I've seen for those. GSA carries a line called Bakery Crafts where you get 48 wrappers for around $15.99, but I don't think their black and white is as pretty as the damask one in your photo. The only other place that I've seen them in bulk is Bella Cupcake Couture, where you can get 100 mini's for $48.00; the reg. size is $48.00 for 50 wraps.

Good luck -- those are gorgeous!

Well... This is not cheaper initially, BUT... If you bought a craft cutter (silhouette (which is what I have), cricut, etc) you could whip those babies out in NO time! I know there are a few different wrapper patterns available for download on the silhouette, and they're only $1.99. If you found the right paper, you could have it all done in a night! There's also the fun bonus of getting to use the machine for gumpaste, sugarveil, icing paper, etc icon_smile.gif

Oh man, I want a cricut really badly. This is just another reason that I need one! Hahaha!

Could you tell me how to do it on a cricut?
On my silhouette, I just download it from their website onto my software. I have no clue how you'd do it for cricut- You could try to do it in SCAL, I'm sure. Or try to find a cartridge with it.

OMG! I am so new at this. I didn't know that you could use a cricut on gumpaste, etc. Please explain a little further. I would love to know! Thanks.

tstaton, I believe there are several threads that talk about how to use the cricut on gumpaste. You can try to do a search using 'cricut' as the subject and you should find something. Or, you can pray JanH stumbles by because she has the link to *everything*. That woman scares me sometimes! Hahahahha! Kidding of course.

That's exactly what I did, I did a few pages per night and you have a lot of time to get them done. If I recall properly, I was able to fit about 6 per page. icon_smile.gif

oh no! Not ANOTHER reason for me to get a cricut! Guess what I am gonna be asking for all year? icon_smile.gif

So even the liners you buy (I have never purchased liners but adore them) dont have bottoms? They only wrap around the sides?

Those liners are beautiful!!!

chefjulie,
do you have a link to the downloadable wrapper? Does it have scalloped edges? I downloaded a pattern for a straight edge wrapper, but I wanted a scalloped edge one.

Well, for being the MOST popular pattern on the planet (or so it seems by how much stuff there is with damask patterns) there is NOTHING to use for cupcake wrappers and a cake!! Where does everyone get the stencils they use? I can't find ANY!! I actually found a broom, mop, dustpan, and other cleaning items that have damask patterned handles, but no STENCIL!!??!?!? WTH???? And FORGET damask paper to hand make these wrappers. It doesn't exist.

Check Global Sugar Art for the stencil. I think they have something very similar.
