A Couple Of Question On A Fondant Fish Cake

Hi there. i need to make a cake for my sons 15th birthday for tomorrow night. My husband changed it from a snowboarding cake to a fish cake. I am currently looking for a fish mold to make life a bit easier. I do however have a couple of questions. How do I make the scales look and how do i make the wood look? I am going to have the fish laying on a wood cutting board hopefully. If anyone has any info or thought a I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
I recently did one, I used a mesh wire to get my scales, for wood you can either draw out your wood planks and lines on fondant, or use liner paper that looks like wood.

for the scales.. take a piping tip.. like a #12 .. use large end and make impression for scales.. i,ve seen this done alot... also for the wood.. do like ski says..hth.. i have a roller that makes the scales... but haven,t made one yet.. but the tip works great...
For the scales, absolutely what icer 101 says. I did that on a fish cake once, worked fantastic. Wish I had it posted on here. As for the wood cutting board, cover your cake board with fondant. Mark off the lines for the individual planks. Then just make random markings like the grain in wood being sure to keep the markings within each separate plank. Use a number 2 or number 3 top to make the nail head marks. Then mix some brown color with vanilla and paint the entire board. You can always add more color if you want it darker, or wipe some off if you put too much. Just be sure that if you want to add a 2nd coat that you wait for the first coat to dry completely or you'll have a mess.
