How do I convert a White mix to Yellow??? ...

I want to convert a DH White cake mix to a Yellow. Do I just use whole eggs instead of whites???


Probably a stupid question, but I want to make sure....

Use the white mix, add 1 stick of melted butter, 1tbs vanilla, 3 eggs and 1 cup of milk and your good to go. Let is whip up for 2 minutes until it double in volume from the butter, then bake at 350 for 20 min.
That should do it,I swear by it, I have used it plenty of times.!

Whole eggs will do it also.....the yellow color is from the egg yolks.

Thanks, I'll try this. Sounds delish. I thought there was more to a yellow cake than just yolks.

Well Carol you're probably right, I'm sure there's plenty of yellow dye in the yellow cake mix too.

The difference in scratch baking from white to yellow is the yolks. icon_smile.gif

Egg yolks and if you want a deeper yellow, add yellow food coloring.

Yes, use the whole egg not just the yolks.

And if you want the butter flavor but would rather use oil (since it is cheaper) use butter flavor. I've had great success making according to directions & adding the butter flavor & whole eggs or you can do just yolks. A few different ways!
