Hi All!

I have always used the Wilton brand cake pans. However, I recenlty found out about Magic Line. Have you used them? How do they compare to the Wilton brand?

Thank You,

=)

I use all 3..I like some Wilton pans..the professional square cornered series..I have used Fat Daddios and like them also...and I have a few magic line too....It depends on what you like but I think they all do the job so it's whatever you prefer.

if you're using the wilton professional pans.....then I agree with Kiddiekakes....they all seem somewhat comparable to me. I have all 3 as well.

The magic line are by far the most expensive and I think Fat Daddios and the wilton professional seem about the same price wise.

The only difference that I can tell, is the fat daddio square pans are not PERFECTLY squared corners, however the cakes do bake up with a decently squared corner on them (not sure how they do that lol)

they're all relatively the same weight (magic line might be a bit heavier)....but I don't notice any difference in baking temp. or time....I pretty much use all of these pans interchangeably!

Magic Line for square, they have no equal, perfectly sharp corners. I have some round Fattys, I like them, and I still have a couple of Wiltons. I am replacing all Wiltons at the end of the month with ML or FD.

All of my squares are ML. Love them! The Wiltons don't compare...the MLs are heavier, bake more evenly, and of course, all of the angles are super-square...very little work when icing the cake. I'm slowly but surely replacing all of my pans with ML.

I've never used FDs, so I can't comment on their performance.

Why do folks always insist that Magic Line are just SOOOOOOO pricey? Magic Line aren't expensive pans. The price is very reasonable for the quality of the product.

Here are some prices I found doing a quick,on-line search. Pans are eight inch rounds, two inches tall. (Cuisinart, Calphalon, Kaiser, Norpro, Gourmet Standard and Nordic Ware are all nine inches as these companies don't seem to make eight-inch pans)

$4.49 Recipe Right
$4.93 Baker's Secret
$5.59 Magic Line
$6.29 Fat Daddio's
$8.99 Wilton Decorator Preferred
$8.99 Wilton Performance
$11.50 Chicago Metallic Commercial
$12.50 Nordic Ware uncoated
$14.00 Kaiser Bakeware
$16.00 Kaiser ExtraordinAire
$16.00 Chicago Metallic Professional
$17.00 Calphalon Classic
$17.00 Nordic Ware non-stick
$20.00 Cuisinart
$22.99 Norpro Stainless
$32.99 Gourmet Standard Stainless

I LOVE my Magic line. I haven't used any of the wilton professional series. But I found I get great results with my ML. They clean up great and just seem to me to be an excellent quality product!

Magic line locally are VERY expensive. But I believe for most part it ends up being shipping which usually doubles the price, that and with a 40% or 50% off coupon the Wilton (Decorator Perferred) is half price or less from ordering online (after shipping). Shipping can make or break a order from me. I refuse to pay as much in shipping as I do for an item.

I agree with others, for square pans, Magic Line--no doubt--they're the best! And one word: ebay!!

Yes, Grinolly, they are the same company.

And I can't believe nobody gave mention to the fact that Magic Line are one of the few pans made here in the USA...at least I thought it was neat.

I've found that magic line definitely takes longer to cook, but only by about 3-5 minutes. I think it's due to the even baking. I have one magic line set and one wilton, and when I bake them side by side, the magic line always needs a touch longer. Just a tip!

I just bought the 2 of the 5-pan sets of ML from Amazon. No sales tax and it qualified for free Super Saver shipping. I was able to get them for far cheaper than I could locally here in CA.

LOVE THEM!

Thats what I'm excited about is the Super Saver shipping. It really doesn't take much to exceed $25 to qualify for it, so I figure it's worth it.

Also, when I checked, the 8x2 pans are only $2 more than the Wilton pans. So not bad at all.

I love mine. In fact I am trying to sell several sets of my wiltons to replace with ml. They seem to cook better. My best purchase was at sur la table.....2.50 for a 10x3 round! It had a little ding in the edge....only a big deal when you pay 12.00 for it right? The ding is in a place that doesn't effect the shape quality of the cake. That day I purchased another that same size, easier to justify when one was practically free. I love the clearance shelf at big box cooking stores....never know what treasures you will find. Anyone who prefers Wilton want to purchase a few pan sets? icon_smile.gif

Wash magic line by hand. If you toss them in the dishwasher, they get funky looking or at least mine did. Purchasing them at Amazon for the free shipping is a good idea.

A couple of years ago I got a massive set of ML squares, and there IS NO comparison lol . MLs are amazing for all the reasons others have posted here. Even if they are a bit more expensive, I'll pay it for better quality, and a product that's made here in the USA. I wouldn't trade my MLs for anything.

I'm switching out to ML and LOVE them. The sides are straight unlike the wilton pans (although I have never used the wilton prof. pans so am not sure about those) therefore less trimming.

I buy mine from CK, very well priced!

DONT buy Fat Daddio! I have had some pans now for over a year, and they have all warped, especaily the bottom parts of them. They dont bake the same, and I mean the same of the SAME pan! We never know how our cakes are going to turn out...one day they will need an extra five minutes, one day less time..and this is the SAME pan! I dont have this problem with my ML pans and not even my wilton pans (I have some oval pans I still use that are wilton) I think the warping is causing the problem. We dont have a dish washer, so all our pans are washed the same by hand, in hot water, etc. I am slowly replacing all my Fat daddio pans and am throwing them away (can't even sell them)
There is a reason they are constantly on sale!!

Thank you!!! I was wondering if I had the wrong ones because I found the prices so reasonable and post after post kept mentioning how pricey they are. Amazon had free shipping on $25 and Global Sugar has 20% off on orders of $100 if you're going to replace or buy a lot it's probably worth getting them there! Thanks again!!
