Just wondering what you've all done in terms of creating a website for you business. Did you create them yourselves? If so where did you do it? who's your web host? Did you design the site yourself? Or have a professional do it? What type of costs are involved in all of this?

I created my own... I'm by far no professional lol ... I went through Yahoo and got my domain name and I used their sitebuilder program... they offer page templates you can use but I created my own ... I didn't care for the ones they offered ..

there are so many different web hosts out there and costs vary from cheap to very expensive.. it's all in what you want to pay and what you want really .. mine runs $11.95 per month and I've had many hits on because of my website.. as a matter of fact, I sold a wedding cake and a groom's cake this month and I have a family reunion/birthday combination cake for next month, all as a result of my website...

If you are totally unfamiliar with building a webpage, check at some local universities... a lot will offer leisure learning courses on how to do this and it's usually not too expensive to take their course... good luck!!

AI first payed someone to make us one. Turned out horrible. After we paid her, two weeks later i took it down and did it ourselves. MILLION times better. Lot of places offer drag and drop softwares which is a great starting point. The good thing about controlling your own website is you can make changes on your own anytime. Especially updating cake pictures. We are with ipage.

Go check out wix.com - I cant say enough good things about them!  The templates are easy and really nice looking, plus you can customize them however you like.  Super easy to add new pictures and extra pages to your site.  For $100/yr they will connect to your domain name and plus you get free ad credits with google ads and Facebook.  Customer service is superb.

If you are starting out you should create a wordpress site, http://wordpress.org/hosting/ are just some. What you want to look for is a host that has one click wordpress installation.

In regards to design I would buy a design it you can buy designs for less that $10 on places like "theme forest"
