What frosting tip do you use to make the evergreen trees? I made them for the first time on my penguin cake. Was not happy how they turned out. I used a number 70 leaf, but it didn't look right, or I didn't do it right.

What is the technique to have them curl up as they go up the tree. I have seen some really awesome trees on CC and mine need some help.

I don't know if you can see them very well in my picture, but I'll post it anyway.

Thanks
LL

I'm really bad about getting my photos uploaded on CC, but the ones on this cake are done in #21 star tip:

Hey charleezgal,
Maybe a 352 leaf tip. It should give you a nice full leaf with a pointed tip.

Hey there!

I just made some pine trees, and I used gum paste. Fondant or a fondant/gum paste mix can be easily used.

I roll out the tinted gumpaste in the shape of a jalepeno pepper, as large as you would like. I instert a wooden dowel, or a lolliepop stick, or a bambo shish k bob stick would work as well for the Trunk, and then i use some sharp scissors, and just start cutting "V"s into the upside down "jalapeno" until i get the desired effect. Much easier and less cleen up than using a back with a tip. Hope that helps. You can PM me if you need a pic.

I am making them for my golf course cake.

In the Wilton course I took a million years ago, we used the #75 leaf tip.
