Demonstration Photo Gallery

I would love to see the addition of a gallery just for demonstration photos. Like if someone wants to see how thick fondant really looks once a slice of cake has been cut. Rather than relying on a worded description.

Or explaining to someone how smooth their icing really can be by using specific methods. So in this case a close up shot of the surface of icing, or an in progress shot of the smoothing process.

Photos of entire cakes aren't real helpful sometimes, because a close up shot of a very specific area or detail is really what would be needed, and in a lot of cases, a shot of the in progress is most helpful.

Posting pics within a thread is only useful right then. People stop posting to it, and the thread disappears after while. Where a gallery of closeups and pics of tools used and short explanations for the pic would be easier to find.

I have lots of things I could contribute this way, and would love to.

isn't this what the articles section of the site is supposed to be for?

I guess we need someone to volunteer to be an articles editor and cull threads for turning into articles.

Yeah, articles...sure, but I was thinking of things that didn't need an article persay, meaning lengthy wordy descriptors. Just like a picture of something very very specific.

I like the idea, Jamie.

Couldn't agree more with _Jamie_. It will really help us newbies a lot. And I also think it should be seperate than the articles as usually articles will be more narrative.

Pics are worth a thousand words. Good idea!

well, this article doesn't seem word heavy:
http://cakecentral.com/articles/738/how-to-make-pumpkin-pie-cupcake-toppers

and this one is video heavy:
http://cakecentral.com/articles/754/how-to-make-your-own-lace-molds

just because it's an "article" doesn't mean it has to be word heavy.

most magazines, esp. those oriented toward DIY market tend to be long on photos, short on text and in this day and electronic age, ezines tend to be very video heavy too.

we're not talking Ms. Nesbeth's English 101 essay here, you know.

thumbs_up.gif I think it's a great idea. I'm VERY new to cake decorating and/or CC (this is actually the very first time I'm replied to a post even) and have to agree that alot of times a closer pic or a series of pics of the process is worth more to me for learning then any amount of worded description.
