Is there a trick to making a clean buttercream camoflauge cake? It will be a full size sheet cake for a wedding. I'll be doing that, the wedding cake and two other sheet cakes, so any tips to make it easier would really save me some time and be much appreciated! Thanks so much icon_smile.gif

I have never made one, but the other day when I was on Sugarshack's blog, she gave the tutorial to the one she made, it was round but I am
sure you can figure it out.

Edited to add the link, just scroll down.

I made one recently and it turned out great. I piped outlines and then used a wider tip and piped in the color. After that I smoothed it with a viva paper towel and my finger. Worked out great. Good luck.

I have one in my pictures that I made using Linda's method, just pipe the color in and smooth. It's probably my favorite cake I've made so far!

Here is the first camo cake that I did. I just piped (using a large round tip) the outline of the shape I wanted to use and then filled it in. By the time I finished the second side, I could go back and smooth the first side I did. Once you smooth it, it all mooshes together.

My camo cake that I did only had the camo print on the sides but could easily be done over the whole cake. Alternate icing colors to make the camo pattern then go back and smooth with the Melvira method. The colors will blend smoothly.
