Take a look at my pics theres 2 one is black and white the other is pink and white , You can either color white fondant or buy the Wilton kind , thats what i did, sometimes black is hard to get and you have to make it ahead of time so it will get darker, Does this make sense?? You roll out your fondant not real thin and i took a sharp knife and started cutting them out different sizes and lenght, Hope this helps, Then i put it on BC icing are you doing a fondant cake??

I like to paint the stripes in black airbrush color - super easy!

I have two zebra stripe cakes in my pics... one is black and white, one is black and lime-green. Both were done using the tutorial on Elaine Thomas' site... works great!

Ditto on the painting as opposed to cutting out fondant pieces. I mix Americolor black with either vodka or clear vanilla (so that it dries faster)

Works like a charm. I attatched one that I did.

I just used a pizza cutter to cut random stripes out of black fondant. It was easy and quick!!!

I just did a zebra wedding cake for a friend! I have done it using black Satin Ice fondant and also coloring chocolate Bakels fondant black (pretty easy). Both were attached to white fondant. I just rolled out the black fondant and randomly cut it with an xacto knife.
(Sorry, I tried attaching a picture but my computer is being difficult...the wedding cake is in my pictures though!) thumbs_up.gif

Designer stencils also has an awesome zebra stencil that makes it very easy. And, this design is more realistic than a lot of zebra cakes that I've seen.
Here's a link: http://www.designerstencils.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=DS&Product_Code=C452&Category_Code=

Hope that helps! icon_biggrin.gif

I painted mine too, because I wanted the bow to match.

It's easier than you think it would be...when we see black lines on a white cake we automatically think zebra...and the design doesn't have to match perfectly all the way around.

When you say "painted"...do you mean with an airbrush? Or painted with black gel coloring and a regular brush? Did you cut out the fondant strips, then paint? TIA!

I painted with a paintbrush and Americolor super black, thinned with a bit of vodka. I painted black stripes onto white fondant. When I made the bow, I used gumpaste, let it dry completely, assembled it and let it harden, then painted the stripes on. I considered using a black marker but I think it would have taken a lot longer.
