Giggle for the day.. - Page 10

A woman I worked with's name was Jenna and married Mr Taylor.

The nearest big city near me used to be Rockhampton, and a doctor that people used to visit there was named Dr Bullwinkle. I laughed pretty hard the first time someone said they were going to Rocky to see Bullwinkle.

Well, I just discovered last night that Harley's poor sister Havana was named after her parent's favorite cigars! Find some different inspiration!

I have to say I love unique names & unique spellings. I chose Adeline & Ansleigh for my girls. No, we don't find persoanlized pencils in stores (but thankfully there's the internet now). And while I thought they were pretty simple (Ansleigh a little more different, but has the female "leigh") but almost everyone spells my oldest Adaline & they add an "I" to make it Ainsley, Ainslee, Aynsley, Ansley (which is the most common but a boy's spelling), Anslee, Anslie, etc. I know we live in the south, but I've never put an I in her name when pronouncing it. I want to tell them 1)I signed her in on the sheet 2) Her belongings are embroidered 3) Her cups have her name on them . When people ask how to spell it my dh says An--sleigh. My grandparents just write Wren on everything (her middle name which is actually a perfect description of her)

My FIL wanted to name my SIL Jemima. Thankfully my MIL said no way, but it would have been cool for my girls to have an Uncle Ben & Aunt Jemima icon_smile.gif

Only time I've heard Adeline is from the song. I'm sure you've probably heard that at least a hundred times, right? icon_smile.gif

I don't think I've laughed so hard as I have reading all the replies in this thread. I saw the original post, got a good laugh from that and replied, then started reading all the rest of the thread.
I can honestly say I had to hold my stomach its was aching so much from laughing!!

I even have a name to add to the list. My now retired dentists name was Dr. Jinks! icon_biggrin.gif

I know some folks locally who's last name is well, the word is for the chest area starts with a TE (yup the body part) and one was an adult film actress (i hope i don't get chastised for posting the name. wasn't sure how to edit it)

shoulda had my maiden name growing up.. my maiden name was Fetch.. Yup just like that.. went from Fetch which i was teased about incessantly to Hengen which no one can pronounce if they read it.. or spell when i tell them my name.. lol its with the G as in Goal sound not a J sound.. although there is a doctor nearby with the same spelling and he pronounces his with a J sound
i've gone crazy~ but it keeps me from going insane! heheheh

My youngest is "Elise". I kept having to correct the pediatrician's office that it's Elise not ELSIE .... "She's not a cow."

And what a wonderful name Elise is icon_wink.gif

but OMG i have EXACTLY the same problems lol When some people read it they call me Elsie and when they don't hear me properly they think it's Lisa icon_confused.gif.....it doesn't even sound the same!...well to me anyway lol

When i am making a booking for a restaurant i usually have to spell my name and one time they kept repeating so a booking for Lisa? and i end up saying "yeh lisa's fine" lol

Elise, we run into that problem w/ our last name which isn't difficult until you apparently make a reservation. So we give dh's name (josh) but Cracker Barrel is the greatest b/c they put Ms or Mr in front of the name & we're always Ms. Josh

newmansmom I have heard the song & that's why every elderly person loves my dd's name. And of course it becomes popular around here after I name my daughter what I thought was a unique name.

Talking to my older brother this weekend brought up good memories of him & his friends prank calling people in the phone book----yet another reason you should watch what you name your kid. Harry Butts (think it's already been mentioned) was called on numerous occasions. surprised he didn't have his number unlisted.

In my country, the former archbishop of the Catholic church was named Cardinal Sin.

No, seriously.
