Is there a way to speed up the drying process of royal icing? I am about to make and decorate some and should be done in a few hours but would like to deliver them tomorrow but could wait till Weds if I had to.

Thanks in advance,
Tabitha

i read in some other thread (i haven't tried this) to put them in the oven with the light on. Not a hot oven, mind you, but just a little warmth. if i can find that other thread i'll repost it.

I've put it in the oven with just the oven light on many of times and it has worked well. icon_smile.gif

Saturday I was looking for a way to fast dry some royal icing Poinsettias for a cake going out this morning. My DH had taken the cake out of the electric oven about an hour before, so I thought I'd pop them in there where it was slightly warm. Well apparently DH hadn't turned the stove off, so when I went to check on the flowers... OMG!!! I laughed so loud DH came to check. I had about 15 MUTANT blooms.

I guess the meringue powder did what it does and puffed up. They looked like distorted angry red aliens with multiple sets of yellow eyes and long stringy tentacles.

Oh yes I forgot to add, always put a note on the oven knob to remind yourself and others not to turn on the oven. Of course that wouldn't help if it was still on, but atleast you get a laugh from it! icon_smile.gif

I'm not sure about this but if you have a hairdryer with a cool setting could you use that?
