Soooo this is my first 3-d cake besides a purse. It is a 11x15 sheet cake cut into 3 and carved out. The tires are RKT everything is edible except for the handle bars, the street sign pole, and the Harley Logo. What would you charge for this cake? I have no pricing experience when it come to sculpted cakes.
$350 $400 something like that. I can't see it very well but that's what I'd charge unless the words five hundred dollars spilled out of my lips first.
Can you post a bigger picture so that we can see the details? It looks awesome from what I can tell!!!
Did you do this cake or is it a photo that was given to you to use as a guide? Only wondering because if the cake is already done, how could you have even phathomed beginning this cake without giving a price to the client and collecting funds in advance for it? My price for this cake would be $11 per serving. 48 servings is what you baked so $528 The extras are included in that price due to the amount of cake that is carved away.
I would agree around $500 for this cake. Trust me before you know it you will have spent the whole week on it!

This cake was done as a favor for a friend, she gave me a huge discount on services i received from her so i said you get a cake, what ever you want however you want. I got a discount of about $1000 so i think i still made out better!

The cake was done on Saturday, it took me all day on Friday and all morning on Saturday and that was two people decorating only.
My inspiration was adven68.
THANK YOU!
I was guessing a cost of $150 so I am blown away!
Ah don't you love bartering! I know I do! Cost probably was around $150 so a retail price of $500 is just about right. So it took you about 20 hours times 2 because there were 2 of you working on it...so totally 40 man hours. Even at minimum wage of $7.25 you are talking $290 in labor costs alone add that to your $150 costs and your profit was only about $60.
The way I break my fee down is ingredients & supplies + (# of man hours x $25) = Cost x 3 = Retail price
The number of man hours X $25 is my pay to myself, everything else goes into the operational fund to pay for ingredients and other overhead.
I have this all mapped out in a price per serving grid by levels, icing choices, and amount of servings.

????????????????
Oh, for the handlebars by themselves. Ok, totally reasonable.

That is what my mom said! She was the one who helped me make the cake!
