I long for a career change but I'm too damn chicken/comfortable to break the ties.

Wishing you all the best in school, you'll rock it for sure! I hope this career change will bring you some relief from your neck pain...my dear friend has the same problem and had to give up hairdressing because of the pain.

P.S. You're living my DH's dream.....he always says he wants to leave the banking world and teach history at the college level.

I am new to Cake Central and the cake decorating world, and you were one of the people who I have found to be so helpful, whether it be in response to my post or one I am researching, the information you share is always insightful. In fact I just read the FYI on you the other day, and it was truly inspirational. The journey you have traveled is amazing, and now you get to take a new path.

Congratulations on getting to go back to school to teach, and don't worry about surviving the middle schoolers! I think that they respond well to both a firm hand and a sense of humor, so you'll be fine. I hope your neck pain eases up, too, that's no fun...

Just got home from Family Christmas. Hubby's-nephew's-wife is a teacher; son's-girlfriend is a teacher. So I had lots of good, fun conversation today!

Lyns082608, I've got your number, lady! icon_wink.gif Son's-girlfriend is pursuing her masters to become a principal, so I reminded her that nepotism can be a GOOD thing ..... especially when she's in a position to hire teachers! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Doug, as always, you just crack me up! Ironic that while I complain about public school systems, here I am heading into the "war room". But I believe in "put up or shut up" ..... and "shut up" is not something I do well! icon_rolleyes.gificon_biggrin.gif

dkelly .. *MY* hubby is a former banker who would also love to teach history! I keep telling him to sign up with me. Daughters are teasing me about "oh god ...you're not going to start wearing teacher sweaters are you?" I was having some horrible neck pains and I stopped leaning my head on my hand and propping myself up on my elbow slouchign at the computer. I was cured. I'm not saying that will help you but I hope you do get some very good relief.

So I'd like to say welcome to my world of hobby baking/caking but I just got a call from a fellow caker--we're meeting up on Saturday to discuss business potentialities---hahahaha I always have a crazy cake deal going. Or I'm in between crazy cake deals depressed as all get out.

So anyhow--multiplied congratulations and beaucoudimous* blessings
