It's either feast or famine with cakes and me lol.. I got home this evening and had 4 phone calls for cakes... now I already have a large wedding cake booked for September 17th; a 4-tiered cake and a double layer 11" x 15" groom's cake ... well I got another order for a small wedding .. she's calling her daughter to decide on flavors and shape of cakes and is calling me back tomorrow to give me the rest of the details...

and then the phone rings yet again ... lol .. I booked 2 birthday cakes.. one for September 3rd with Tinkerbell and a family reunion/birthday cake combo for that weekend too ...

the phone rings again .. I booked another birthday cake for September 17th for a one year old .. t the same weekend of the 2 wedding cakes.. this one will get baked this weekend along with wedding cakes and frozen ..

WAIT.. another call... a groom's cake to go with the brides cake that I have booked for September 24th ... hunting theme .. sides in camo, center of cake left white with the deer driving the vehicle and hunter on top tied up (like the one in my photos)

PHEW!! I have some bakin' to do!! icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks!! I sure hope so.. while in WalMart today, a lady noticed I had a lot of sour cream and butter in my shopping cart .. I noticed her staring at it and I said, "it's for wedding cakes" .. she said, "Oh, you make cakes?" and of course I gave her a business card lol .. she said her son was getting married in a few months .. she wasn't sure if her future daughter-in-law had ordered her cake yet so she was giving her my card.. then the cashier, who was also a manager, asked for my card .. that doesn't say much for the bakery there when the manager wants to possibly order a cake from someone else.. I think what sold her was the fact that I used butter and sour cream in my cakes (Super enhanced cake recipe from here on CakeCentral) .. but I'm sooooooooo running out of room in my freezer and don't know what I'm going to do for as freezing the rest of my cakes .. does anyone know if you can stack any of the cakes on top of one another after they're frozen if you place boards or some kind of pans between them? I have got to do something.. I'm running out of room but I have got to get all these cakes baked ahead of time!!

ntertayneme, Isn't it amazing what a little business card can do for you? I just found magnetic printer sheets at Staples and I've been making magnets - just a photo copy of my business cards, and putting one in every cake box that goes out. I'm hoping that next time they need a cake they'll see my name on the fridge and automatically call! But I'm just a few months into selling and you have too many cakes, so you are probably all set! Good luck with the baking!
I bet you can stack a few once they are frozen! Do you have any stackable cooling racks you can make extra shelves out of? Good luck, I can't wait to see all of your photos in the coming weeks!

Congratulations on all the orders, You will be one busy lady for the next few weeks.
I was wondering if you could use some kind of wire stacking unit to stack your cakes on in the freezer..I had a pic of one but can't seem to figure out how to add it to this message..Not sure what kind of freezer you have, mine is an upright and it has removable shelves so I can get very large cakes in . Good luck baking and finding room to store them.. Happy baking.. icon_smile.gif

I have the chest type freezers .. we have 2 of them; however they're both half full .. I don't have one of the wire racks that stack icon_sad.gif I was wondering if when the cakes are frozen, could I put a cake board between them and maybe stack another on top of it .. not sure if I can do that or not.

Unless someone can answer you for sure, I wouldn't experiment this week! Sounds like you are too busy for a do-over! 2 or 3 high with boards probably wouldn't be a problem.

ntertayneme, I ran into this problem a while back with a shortage of freezer space. It is perfectly okay to stack on top of one another. Just let one freeze and then put another on top with board between layers. Just make sure the layers are sitting on flat surface, and Congrats on all the ordersicon_smile.gif

Congrats Cheryl! I stack mine (frozen) all the time, on a flat surface and boards or cooling racks in between, but I wouldn't suggest putting more than two layers together. Good Luck and remember to post the pics after.

ntertayneme, I do the same as irisinbloom and Juds all the time. I have never had a problem. I do make sure each cake is flat and completely frozen before I put the next one on top. Good luck with all of your orders! Bonnie

I love the way business comes in. And you're right....its pouring or a drought. This month for me is like yours! I am sure you will do fine...but I"d be going crazy. Hope the wedding cakes are simple ones! I'll be thinking of you - I have a cake that weekend as well. icon_surprised.gif)

Great idea with the printer magnets - whoever that was....I'm going tolook for them! I want to find a cute logo for my business name first.
