I finally had time to set and watch my DVD. Now I need to order the base mold so I can get busy on those beautiful vases!!! Jen, arranging the flowers was always the most difficult thing for me to do. I cannot tell you how much this DVD will help me. Thank you so much for doing it for those of us who are placement handicapped like me!
Great vases nannie, they look amazing, I learned to make sugar eggs last easter, but never thought of vases, thanks Jen.
I learned the faberge egg too last easter but haven't had a chance to do them.
the funny thing is, I now walk around the house looking at bowls, glasses, mugs, vases as potential molds for sugar vases.

How do you do the faberge eggs?

Oh me too Nannie! I haven't looked at a mug, vase, or anything even resembling such in the same way since watching the dvd!
I attended a demo at a bakery near my home done by Steve Stellingwerf
It is done in a similar manner: using an egg shaped mold (I got a big one from country kitchens but also found a small plastic one in with the easter candy)
Just like Jennifer taught, add water to sugar and press in mold. flip onto surface and let dry overnight. Spread very thin layer of piping gell over each half and then cover with fondant. use RI to glue halfs together put on a base (again just like the ones Jennifer sells) and then decorate like a faberge egg.
I didn't have time to do last easter but am looking forward to doing it a a centerpiece this year.
PM me if you need more info

I also learned to scrape out the inside of both eggs just like the vase, and cut the opening of the front egg, and you can put easter bunnies, carrots, trees and so forth inside and glue together with royal icing, and decorate.
I got my large easter eggs from Dollar General.
so, THAT'S how you do the panoramic eggs. I've always wondered.
what do you use to cut out the hole since I assume that part is hard?
I ordered Jen's DVD after all the wonderful reviews posted here. I just finished watching it for the second time, and all I can say is WOW!!! Thanks, thanks, thanks to BWB for starting this post and for letting us know firsthand what a great teaching tool it is.
In addition to several floral designs, you get many wonderful tips and ideas from Jen. And if that weren't enough, she also gives you a perfect lesson in the basics of design: shape, structure, focal point, fill 'er in. As many have mentioned, you can learn how to make the individual flowers from a number of sources, but if you can't arrange them correctly, you're really at a disadvantage.
GREAT DVD, Jen -- thanks!!!
amen
You know I picked up so many of the small things watching it.
A better way to wrap the wires, and twisting two wires together before wrapping them together.......... so much simpler than the way I was doing it. (I'm kind all thumbs)
nannie -- I forget to say, "Great job on the sugar vase!" I hope I can do as well.
One of the many extras I liked was how to put together ivy -- starting with the twizzle (I don't know if I'm remembering the name correctly . . . ) and how to add leaves and piece it all together.
One of the great things about her DVDs is the ability to watch them again and again. I'm always picking up "new" things the second or third time through.
Beautiful, Nannie! Your wild roses are fantastic and look so pretty in your sugar vase! Love it!

A very sharp knife, a small one though, I used the little pearing knife that came in my chef knife kit.
And congratulations on the sugar vases with the flowers they are very beautiful, What cutter do you use to make wild roses?
Uniqueask, I used the 5 petal cutter and made cotton stamens and then dipped them in yellow dust.
thanks everyone for your comments. I do appreciate it.
