Please help! I have a cake order due tomorrow night and my mixer broke! We are under a blizzard warning and I can't get out to buy a new one.
Any tips on making icing without my mixer?
Thank you
Tammy
I have no tips on making icing without a mixer but is it possible that you could borrow your neighbor's? Good luck to you!
OMG my biggest fear....you poor thing.
Do you have a hand mixer? or Maybe a neighbor would have one you could borrow.
As soon as you're able to, could you go buy a bucket of frosting at your local grocery store? I know it's not as good as homemade, but if it helps get this cake done in time, it might have to be done.
How about ganache, or poured fondant.

And there's always MMF fondant....

If you're under a blizzard warning, I would call to verify the function hasn't been postponed. If I had to make icing by hand, I'd make sure my liquid was hot to make beating it easier(not so hot that the icing turns to soup though), find a comfortable spot, and get to mixin'.
I am feeling for you right now!!! This is one of my biggest fears too!!!! I would have to say if you are going to go to the store to get store baught frosting, you can pick up a mixer too!!!! But otherwise I would have to say I would be knocking on the neighbors doors!!!!!!! Hope everythig turns out for you! We are in a blizzard too so I know the stress of not having what you need for the cake situation and not being able to go anywhere!!!!!!!
Okay, this might sound a little gross but desperate times. Put on a pair of gloves and use your hands to mix it (sort of like you would knead fondant or cookie dough). I swear- it works- and much better than a spoon. I know this thanks to my handmixer breaking midnight the night before I had a cake due.
wow!! thanks for the idea! I will keep this in mind if my mixer ever falls apart on me again!!! lol hopefully not though!!!
I am under a blizzard warning too! I doubt we are in the same area, but I am curious as to where you are. I am in Blaine, Mn.
i am in the good old sgt bluff, iowa! we had all of our heavy snow yesterday and through most of the day today, but now we have 50 mile an hour winds.....it sucks and its FREEZING!!!
I'm in Michigan ... Thank you for the ideas the glove thing worked!!! And it was kinda fun on a wintery day.
Thanks again yall!
