I need a good scratch cake recipe...

What kinda scratch recipes do you use?

I tried the Barbara Kafka recipe from the Great American Cakes book. I also have the Toba Garrett yellow cake recipe.

I really enjoyed the from scratch recipe. It has a great taste.

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction for a good from scratch yellow recipe?

Also, what about other flavors of cakes? I am guessing a strawberry cake would have a real strawberries in it as would carrot cake.

i like the butter-sponge cakes from the Mary Ford cake books. really great flavour and easy to make (you'll need a scale though, and the recipes are from the UK, so they generally call for self-raising flour, which you can substitute for with the right balance of flour/salt/baking powder.)

I like the yellow butter cake from The Cake Bible. It is a dense cake and does not leave a single crumb when you cut it.

I make the yellow cake layers and carrot cake from Gourmet.com. They are both delicious. For the carrot cake I omit the ginger and add 1/2 cup of raisins.

Try them, you can go to their site and pull up the recipes, if not PM me and I'll get them.
