I was hoping to get information on how to bake a 4" cake in a 2" cake pan. I had seen a tutorital once on how to do with this and I am unable to locate it now and I need to make a baby block cake with a 4X4x2 pan. Any information on this would be great.
I would bake two cakes and put them together with icing.
Otherwise you can build up a 4" collar around the pan with aluminum foil.
I mean say you bake off one 8 or 9 inch cake--which would be one recipe or one cake mix give or take--dude, cut you out two 4" squares out a that--no worries.
Honestly the easiest way to do baby blocks is with an 8" square pan. Cut into quarters, torte and stack.
